I'm not exactly tall (5'10") but flying back from Spain with MyTravel
a couple of weeks ago I was unable to sit with my legs straight in
    front of me at all.

I didn't measure the gap, but you'd have had trouble fitting a cat in
there at all, let alone swinging it.

Last time I fly pikey-air, for sure.

Sounds like a plan but I'll wait till beginning of September to
decide. Might have a handle on whether I have the money by then.

Hmm, I was putting in 1st to 4th October from any London airport and
couldn't get less than 900 on a economy one.

  5. For that much I'd want to see the GP *and* anybody finishing outside the top
ten fed to the lions or attacked by gladiators.

A mate of mine was there looking for the things that they didn't find any
of - but apparently had a wail of a time staying in one of Saddam's palaces,
and buying stuff from the duty free at Baghdad International Airport
(Johnnie Walker $1 a bottle). Things were getting pretty hot there, even 9
months ago, though, so he's in no hurry to return.

Apparently the tactical landings at the airport are a bit of a hoot, though.

If you've geen getting quotes flying on Friday, though, you're always going
to get stung. Out Friday/back Sunday/Monday is always pricey. I was
looking at a Wednesday or Thursday out, and a Tuesday back, but I'm now
wondering about combining the trip with some scuba

Why would you be any different from the rest of us?

I only know because I've a mate who lives there, and who's wife is a
travel agent. I'm going to shoot over for a weekend when I'm less
    busy.

We've got some people in one of Saddam's palaces. That's really the
only reason I want to go.

He's in prison in Qatar, actually. I want to go and see him and poke
him with a stick through the bars.
    Go on...

    Nice.

If I want to go from Birmingham it'll cost me 2k.

Ah right, I'd been putting in out Friday, in Monday.

But using Statto's link I can do that for 350 odd quid.

    Still, will decide in August/September.

The longer you wait, the more prices rise. Particularly from Birmingham
where I've seen some routes quadruple in cost nearer the time. This I
last experienced when trying to get flights to Bangalore.

heh. Or take him a Dundee cake with a file baked into it
Something like, they fly over the airport at eek thousand feet, then put the
plane on its side so it slides earthwards, corkscrewing to the ground,
levelling out at the last minute and landig with an almighty *crump*. Then
they all run like **** to the terminal, and presumably someone comes and
    cleans up all the sick.

When they take off again it's full chat, with anti missile flares flying out
of the side of the fuselage.

That sure beats taking off from Tokyo Narita in a tropical rainstorm
when you could feel the wheels slipping on the runway as we tried to
    build up speed.

Don't have any option. It's only after my holiday in July that I'll
know what my finances are looking like for the autumn. Can't commit
    the money at the moment.
