A few people mentioned they might be interested in coming over for the
    MotoGP.

Tickets are available now. Prices, and other details are here:
    http://www.qatargp.net/ (1UKP = 6.5QR). I fancy a bit of the VIP
    touch, tbh.

Can arrange various bits of floorspace, sofas, spare beds around the
city, or can get rooms at the Ramada for 300QR a night.

    So, anyone fancy a ticket?

    October, eh?

Hmmm, 260 quid for a VIP Saturday ticket, 50 quid a night hotel, 1000
quid for a BA scheduled flight. Call it 1.5k all in. Bit rich for me
then, even 1000 quid with a pikey ticket will still be beyond me.

    a thousand nicker for a flight? **** me, I only paid 2790QR ( / 6.5 =
429ukp) for last weekend's flight, and I booked that with about a
    week's notice.

Pikey ticket, my sofa, flight booked in advance - could do it for 600.

That's about what I was looking at. Only problem is flight times - ideal
would be BA there and Qatar Air back, or vice versa, as each does the
overnight flight in the opposite direction.

But even at worst, it's equivalent to a flight to NYC and back, if a ton
    or so more expensive.

I'm game, and could possibly stretch to the VIP ticket if I was making
    a holiday of it.

Wow. No really, wow. I've never been able to get any return flights to
the ME for less than 2000 euros. My last flight
    Paris/Saudi/Kuwait/Paris cost around 4000 euros.

you don't think flights will be more expensive around the MotoGP
    weekend?

Your corporate travel agent is a ****. I'm currently getting
    CSG-ATL-FRA-TJM-Sheraton Tashkent-KSQ for 2000USD.

Out of interest, I managed to find BA from Heathrow to Doha for £353,
flying out on Thursday 30th September, returning overnight on Sunday
3rd. That still means laying out over £500 for a weekend away, which
    is a touch steep.

Very tempting. I'll have a think. Flights coming in about 300 sheets at
the back of the bus (though Gulf Air can go and **** themselves with their
    28" seat pitch)

It's probably cheaper via Baghdad, but that doesn't mean I'd want to
    make the journey.

ObAirline: the only airline flying in and out of Uzbekistan is run by
    the UN. Howzat.

Bloke from my office is on his way to Baghdad today. Wonder if he'll
    come back...
Er... Uzbekistan Airways is run by the UN?

Do it. And bring me some porn, ffs.
On planes, I'm glad I'm short (thought it would be advantageous to be
    less rotund).
