The 250 race on Eurosport was fantastic, but chock-full of crashing.

My DVD recorder (Panasonic DMR E-30) has started recording everything in
B&W. Anyone any idea why? Manual says nothing. Recording direct from Sky
box, but picture on the TV is normal. Watching in monochrome really takes
    the edge off motorcycle racing.

No idea - I'll have to check the user guide. Is this the video format, like
PAL? The only change I have made recently was to set the child lock by
accidentally pressing two buttons together. Mucho searching the the manual
led to the correct way to unset it. Apart from that, nothing. Working
perfectly up to a couple of weeks ago. Thanks for the response.

It's the American TV colour (sorry, color) encoding system.

About five minutes after I posted that my computer crashed. Time to get
that cpu/memory/graphics card/motherboard and now hard drive upgrade
    then.

NTSC = Never Twice the Same Colour

PAL was a development of NTSC that is far more error tolerant

  10. That is treacherous bollox. Phase(d) Alternate Line is a significantly
superior British Technology that the merkins failed to adopt as it meant
more cost for both transmitter and receiver despite the far better
picture quality of the British PAL system. If they could have stolen it
from us under the guise of it being military technology perhaps it would
have been a different matter but they couldn't so they have to show
their shit programmes on shit teleboxes and despite their best efforts
have only managed to export one bit of it across the pond.

What goes around comes around. The merkin couch potatoes have a much
more persuasive argument for changing to HD TV while the market in the
UK is still trying to splutter into live not helped by feeble
Government and OfCom dilly-dallying over how to handle the DSO
    premium.
