Given the thread just up there, and given that swmbo has been asking
for three years now, which motogp should I take her to this year?

I've been watching from said armchair for years, and I tend to agree
with Antonye in that I reckon it's going to be a better view, cheaper
beer and a little less crowded from there, but she has her heart set
    on a trip outside.

Given Bear's comment that "both silverstone and donington are shit and
I should go abroad" and that Europe is as far as I can afford, which
    is the best one for:
    ease of access,
    good views,
    not too pricey?

Is it really worth it to go to a live one? Over to the foak.

I've heard Assen can be good.

If it was me, I'd go to somewhere where they do it properly - one
of the Italian or Spanish rounds would be your best bet. Make a
week of it and get some sun in at the same time?

    We're off to Mugello ;)

    Mugello.

the access is shit, but that shouldn't put you off.

The racing was ok but it was the thuings like engines on crates,
bursting into flames and rolling down the hillside that really made it
for me. And rev limiters being used as a musical instrument.

The point of going live is for the atmosphere. For that, Assen is good
because it's "easy". Otherwise it would have to be Mugello, Jerez or
    Valencia.

    Book early to avoid disappointment.

Far from it. It produces some of least interesting races, but when you're
    there, you don't care.

By what measure? Certainly the last 5 years that I can recall it's been
neither close nor exciting. The one where Rossi fell and Hayden took the
championship had a little something, but I can't think of any others as
    being particularly stand-out.

For sure the other classes have been better, but that's nearly always a
    given.

I'd agree with all that. Went to Catalunya (an hour from Barcelona) in
    05. The atmosphere was quite something.

The local town just turned into one big carnival on the evening before
the race. Lots of stunts etc on the main drag, until the police came.
And cordoned it off so there was now an official drag strip. It all
continued in very good (drunken) humour until the early hours.

Point of order: The organization of Montmelo is rather excellent, and 100K
people for an event is not strange here, say Camp Nou every 15 days or the
summer festivals inside the city (200K+).

I will obviously suggest Catalunya GP with the added enjoyment of Barcelona
and the beaches in spring ;-) Some mountain touring is a good idea for a
    week trip.

Er... 25kms from city center :) May depend on traffic conditions.

Well that train I took was from a place 25 mins away, and Barcelona was
about half an hour in the other direction. There was no way we were
riding from the hotel to the circuit.

Same for Valencia. I'm not sure what there is to be wary of. In fact I
imagine it's much simpler than Mugello.

Don't worry about it, just tell them you're going to win the next
MotoGP and they'll switch to being on your side.
