You can stand by your incorrect comments if you like... but it's just
making you look silly... denying the truth in the face of the facts tend
    to do that :)

Ahhh... now he's getting sneaky... he's trying to confuse "Tourer" the
noun with "tourer" the adverb... meaning one who tours (which as we've
explained is a different thing :)

CASA disagree... since they use it that way!

But actually I agree with you it isn't... got a better one? Resting
    pulse perhaps?

I _don't_ believe BMI is useful... I believe that CASA think it is useful :)

  7. Yes, based on?
So all else is obviously not a tourer? Squares and all that eh?

So the flip side is what? Sports bikes have chain drives, uncomfy seats,
poor fuel range, no fairings or no protection from them and no where to put
    stuff?

Then shaft drives automatically exclude a bike as being sports/sporty?
Umm, do you want a flashing sign?

Stating the same things over and over doesn't make it better or "truer".
...yes, did I mention the DT175? Good thing we have modern bikes as I just
don't know how they managed in them olden days.

I reckon if the bike was "tuned" bike, chain oiled and tyre pressures kept
an eye on, there is a high chance that the fuel economy that all are so
quick to moan about may improve! It'd ruin complaints about the "tiny fuel
range". The thing that annoyed me about the bike was when it became a 500
    single......

110ps and the bike is drinking the fuel that quick, perhaps your brakes or
    dragging, or you need optimax?

  8. Glib and droll. Really.
You claimed something about fitness and obesity, then went onto claim
something about BMI. How that makes your assertions any stronger....

No, I don't want indendant verification. So, it is a mag it is true? It
may be popular, does this make it universal?
    Yes, and they are?

  12. Is it different? You've offered what makes a tourer and I don't agree.
Perhaps you may notice that I really don't care if it doesn't fit the
popular definition. Really sorry, GS, I don't agree, and I find it rather
amusing that you need to suggest I am wrong because of x, y and z because
    bike mags say so.

LOL Again assuming. Without *knowing* anything about the way people maintain their bikes. You're assuming people that complain about
poor fuel range (and here we have yet another one of your assumptions that I am complaining about the small range when I am simply
commenting on it) don't keep their bikes tuned, lubed nor generally maintained.

You're a funny man Hammo. Keep up the good work. LOL

  14. Fitness is a term that can mean what you want. What are they trying to
measure? I'd prefer to see individual assessments as that way it is a
relevant measure of and to the individual. Much in the same way I believe
that the VTR can be a tourer as much as a sports bike.

And I find it amusing you suggest others are wrong in their assertions, based on...........well........... little more than because
    you say so.

    LOL

  16. Ah, well then, fight the system!

    Hammo

PS In mags I've read ppl that don't believe in BMI are considered stupid and
idiotic too. I don't agree with them, but, that is another story.

  18. Um Dale, was I actually targeting you?

Its not funny how many people don't. Of course, that's not you. You are
as perfect and as infallible as me.

What is funny is the number of bikes that have similar fuel consumptions and
fuel loads and no-one comments about them.

    Hammo (..oh you were assuming)

  19. If it is in the media it is true? I'm talking about bike mags, Dale. You
can buy them and believe all if you like. I won't think any worse of you.

I have an advantage there. I know how the media generally needs to be taken with a grain of salt, having a father who was a TV
journalist throughout my childhood and high school years and an uncle who was a print journo.

However, bike mags as a rough guide is still far more than your "because I say so".
