Know what the most annoying sound in the world is?
After you've already come to a rest and you still hear your bike
    sliding down the road.

Car at an intersection jumped out from the light. I swerved but hit
the brakes too hard and slid into the curb. Buggered up my knee a bit,
    but ok.
Bad news at the start of prime riding season, no?

But the good news is you are not badly banged up.

When the human body meets asphalt or concrete, even at slow speeds,
the worst can happen. Being able to walk away is a good thing.

How's the bike and which one was it?

  4. nope, don't like hearing that at all. glad you're mostly ok, the
machinery can be fixed and repainted. which one got it?

hope the car driver got a ticket. that makes insurance settlement a bit
    easier.

It was the Springer. The most troublesome thing is that there's a
possibility that the case needs to be cracked open to inspect. There
was a lot of oil coming out afterwards. The primary seals are shot for
sure. Dunno how the rest of the engine is.

The rest was merely costmetic, a bent bracket here, a scratch there,
    and a footboard sheared away.

Yes, hard to get mad at him tho. Just another brain dead cager.
"I wasn't going to pull out in front of you, I swear!". "I wasn't
gonna take the chance," says I.

Probably not. I slid through that intersection without touching
    anything but ground.
Looked very impressive, I bet (snicker).

This knee has been banged up before (not as bad) and it got better. I
think this will as well. Going to get an MRI Monday to see how bad it
all is. I'm on crutches for a few weeks at the least.

  9. ew, that's a drag. there goes the deductible and here comes the rate
increase. HD repair rates and parts are always so well discounted. not.
i'm certain you got a round of applause and admiring glances from all
the ladies. there are easier ways to get them, tho'. <sfsf>

it's a helluva feeling to look up from the pavement in the street after
you stop and think "wtf now".

All that stuff can be fixed. Look after your leg and get yourself
healed up. You'll be dancing the two step again before you know it.

    sorry to hear compadre',
i had a close one 2 days ago,
some dip-wad on a cell phone changed lanes on me,
i honked long and loud and he jerked back into his lane .
i could see he was talking on a cell phone. (huge pet peeve of mine)
then the light turned red and he had to sit right next to me
and listen to me scolding him. he tried to make his phone use
sound liget by exclaming " i was on the phone to my dieing
    grandmother in the hospital!"
i kindly informed him he should "PULL THE F*%K OVER" to
    talk on the phone.
he told me he was sorry, and didnt make eye contact any more.

    get well soon.
that bling bling stuff can always be fixed.

Just a mere blink, and we _can_ go tumbling to the ground.
It is normal to grab for all the brakes, that we can get a hold of.
No matter how good of rider, we tend to get a little paniky, when a
    vehicle is in our path.
I just hate it, when the bike wants to get sideways. that's a bad thang'

It sure is bad news. I'm just glad you are relatively ok. Heal quickly.
There will be other days but still, you will be missed tomorrow, at the SR
    Party.

Speaking of sliding through an intersection, check out this traffic cam
clip taken at an intersection in the Vancouver suburb, Surrey:

I was thinking how upset you'd be over that as I was staring at the
    sky afterwards.

The best thing is that I was solo, and now I have Mouse to fetch me
the remote and a peice of chicken now and then. If we were both laid
up, we'd be in a mess.
