I think I've seen this one before.... ebay item 120103633281
Nasty cheating ****. I've emailed him about that. "Well, well, well. The bike that you negged me for... And I see you haven't mentioned the damage to the engine cases, which I didn't know about, but which you definitely do. Tut tut."
I have loads of pix. I've just copped another neg - from the Froggie who sold me the side panel decals billed as genuine, but which were copies (I mean, the backing paper has 'LEXMARK' on it....) I'm philosophical about negs now - my FB on Ebay is approaching 700, and when I come across a twat, I'm not going to think "Oh, if I neg him, he'll neg me back!". I'll tell it like it is But this Morini "gent" is carefully not mentioning faults which he *knows* exist. Anyone else fancy dropping him a few "questions"?
The Older Gentleman says... "Hi, does the Morini have any other faults you know of? Thanks, Laurie" -- Lozzo Triumph Daytona 955i SE (Black with added black bits) Suzuki Bandit 600S (Green with added shit bits) Yamaha SR250 Delusion (It's "Special") I ride way too fast to worry about cholestorol.
Might still have some old emails relating to his purchase. I'll have a look when I get home. Thinking of going to take a look at it, are you?
LOL, where is the break in the crankcase, is it something a scrupulous purchaser could find easily enough on checking a bike over after having bid shit-loads for it? Perhaps ???
It was apparently a broken-off lug behind the sprocket cover. I never removed the cover so never noticed it, and it didn't affect the integrity of the cases at all. He also said that the bike wasn't charging, which was just not true, because it was run up in the presence of the various Moriniphiles in this thread, who can all testify that it was, indeed, charging. I remember we started it with a flat battery, on the kickstart, and after a few minutes running the battery held enough charge to start it on the button. I even demonstrated this to him when he bought the bike, so he *knew* it was charging, at least at the time of sale. I was seriously pissed-off at the time, because I gave my usual detailed description of the bike, pointed out the flaws I knew about, warned that whoever bought it might be in for some surprises, and sold it for something like £800. Left him positive feedback, and then a couple of weeks later, without even contacting me first, he just slammed in a neg. Git. He wanted to know which gorilla had rebuilt the engine - I pointed him at the huge sheaf of receipts I'd passed over with the bike.
... but probably not normally to be seen on a check before handing cash over. Could have had fun with that .. Be nice to have a go back at the pillock, somehow, though.
Buy a Morini, they're absolutely brilliant. The 350 isn't much slower than the 500 and I think the better bike. However this ex-TOG 500 I saw before he sold it and I thought it was basically sound - what it needs is a fair bit of TLC and some money spending on it - the exhaust is horrible, the rear sets need replacing and the cosmetics are a bit ropey but the engine seemed sound and the electrics not too disgusting. However it is the third time, at least, that this one's been on Ebay from which you can draw your own conclusions. It's not a complete shed but it's not been loved in the way that Morini's should be.
Although the clutch oil seals were replaced, it started leaking again, and I very much doubt he's touched them. So the clutch really needs to come apart again. The engine is basically sound. The frame piant is good. The red paintwork is a bit shabby. The electrics all worked. It needs a helluva lot of TLC and several hundred quid thrown at it. Weggy's assessment is spot on, and I can assure you, there's a lot more to it than the seller is letting on.
The MRC guide price for a 500 is C1 £2500, C2 £1500, C3 £800 It'd be worth having for 600-700 if one wanted a project.
A.Lee says... He's just responeded to my question with : "hi laurie ..well i am not a morini expert(or any other come to think of it)it leaks 2 drops of oil after a run,the electric start works when it feels like it..and the choke appears to do nothing, regards martin" So the guy's a lying **** then? -- Lozzo Triumph Daytona 955i SE (Black with added black bits) Suzuki Bandit 600S (Green with added shit bits) Yamaha SR250 Delusion (It's "Special") I ride way too fast to worry about cholestorol.
sounds like it. If he'd repaired the damaged crankcase properly, then he'd be crowing about it. bearing in mind he negged TOG for "not charging", has anyone asked if it's charging properly? :->
"On 04-Apr-07 at 09:01:18 BST, seller added the following information: item sold do not bid" ??? Regards, Simonm.
wrote Cheltenham is not that far from me. Would you like lots of fussy old farts going to look at it?
probably the usual thing, someone's bought it off ebay. which *really* pisses me off if I'm watching something which I intend bidding on later.
