Some **** stole the battery off my 550/Four this morning. I thought I heard
a weird noise outside around 8ish, but as I had just awoke and could still
see most of my bike from the window, I never really clicked that anything
was wrong. Well, until I went outside to put the bins out for the binmen
    that is...

Side panel on the floor, and an empty space where the battery used to live.
The scrotes had also screwdrivered the seat lock so they could lift the
seat, probably thinking the battery lived underneath there.

The battery was due a replacement anyway. 4 years of being subjected to
Hondas finest rattles and mechanical regulator had left it in a bit of a
sorry state, with just over 12V being the best you could coax out of it
fully charged. But still, thats not the fucking point.

£22 for a new one, from my local friendly bike shop, and a promise to get me
pictures of any pikey twats who turn up asking questions about bike
    electrics, batteries and such like.

The geezer that used to run the custom bike shoppe in West Road Sour
Fend used to leave a duff battery in his bike that he parked outside the
shop because scrotes would nick at least one a week. Saved him the
problem of disposing of them, which he reckoned was a bonus.

Wasn't Murray after a battery on the cheap?

  5. The bugger of this is the damage to the seat, IMHO. Thieving bastards.

I'll raise you - my laptop went walk about this afternoon. Swiped from
clients office. Fortunately they didn't take the bag containing my Nikon. .

  7. Sweet.

I left a nice clean 25 litre Shell oil barrel containing old engine
oil, brake fluid and other assorted oily waste outside my garage in
MK. It had been nicked within the hour. Saved me taking it to the
dump. A couple of months later, I did the same thing; that went
    missing as well.
I do hope they used the contents in an engine.

    Expensive beer then.
Best of luck. What are they like for upping your premium after a claim
    over here?

No change - it's on my household (Hausrat) policy and
they either pay or not and then cancel your policy or not.

  14. Always worth adding a good squeeze of carborundum paste to old oil in
    these circumstances...

  15. I was told the story of a colleague who wanted shot of his rather old
works van. He added a small bit of grinding paste to the oil in the
hope of hastening its demise. Apparently the 30 or so miles from
Basingstoke to guildford were enough to trash the motor.

  16. Heh... It's one of those stories where I expected you to say that the
30 mile drive with the grinding paste re-honed the bores and bearings
and the engine then produced twice the power and lasted 500,000 miles
    without an oil change.
