I could quite go a Morris with a V8 or somesuch in it.

I built a Tranny van with the V8 out of a TVR. It went like stink, but it
wasn't exactly frugal. It took the wind out of the sails of (among others) a
few Golf GTI's at the traffic light GP's though and that more than made up
    for its thirst.

Cobra side pipes with no silencers made it sound pretty good too.

A little bit, but not much (according to its previous owner), but the gap
between 3rd and 4th was big enough to get a bus in, so it needed to be caned
in third until it cried for mercy. It was bloody nippy considering the size
of the motor though and was amazingly good on fuel.

I had to start it with a stick though, coz the stupid starter cable which
ran from the back to the lever between the seats never stayed in one piece.
That caused a few raised eyebrows when the "boot" lid was opened and the
stick shoved onto the solenoid to provide the necessary push.

I remember my Fiat 500 very fondly. Went all round the country on it.
7 up at one time. Not too good for nooky but reliable and very easy to
    park.

Heh. I'd want a Moggy V8 to look absolutely ordinary though, down to
the tartan rug and thermos on the back seat.

Er, no. Some subtle mods would be required :)

Do it to an early Lowlight and the Morris Owners Club would probably
get all medieval on me. Which would be fun.

  11. And there's no point unless it's an early Moggy with the semaphore
    indicators.

There's loads of stupid Mog stuff on the net.....5 ltr TVR powered one
on You Tube, etc etc. Mine might be a humble 1098cc but it's a fun
    car.

Me and the boy-chic did a full body resto on a Moggie cabriolet last year.
We're waiting for the owner to finish the mechanicals and bring it back for
a photo session. It looked good in the old "Antique White/cream" when it was
trailered away from our place, so it should look even better with a new
    hood/wheels an' everything.

It created a lot of commets from the older guys who work in the same unit
area as us too, but the're REALLY old fuckers and most of them owned a Mog
    at one time.

I were nowt but a lad then, and the tranny was a brilliant bus for th'
    holidays too.

I've still got a pair of cylinder heads for that engine too. Race spec and
heavily modified by some TVR headbanger. They were great for sheer power,
but useless for torque and I needed torque because I built the back axle
using the twin wheel outer parts of the Tranny and a 3.7:1 diff and diff
case off a Chevy Camaro/ This gave an overall ration that had the Tranny
bimbling along at 70 with just 2500 on the clock (as opposed to the close to
4000 the 5:1 ratio gave me.

It was unbelievable with the original diff up to 60, but then it began
running out of puff and acceleration, but the new ratio gave it some legs.
The best thing was it didn't need radio and I ran it for 7 years, during
which time it never gave me an ounce of trouble. Not bad for something built
out in the open on the drive.

Old English White. I painted my first car, a Minor 1000 Traveller, that
