Well done, but at least it's a sportscar. I wish I still had my 73
    MG, as it happens.

Yeah, but have you ever been stopped and let off for doing 55 in a 30 limit
    driving a Fiat fucking 500?

Reason plod gave for not booking me was "The lads wouldn't fucking believe
this thing would even DO that speed, let alone accelerate like it did".

I was only in 3rd too.

But "usually" isn't "always" is it? The number of points now depends on the
speed you're doing above the limit. 2 for a minor but easily 3 or more for a
    little more enthusiasm.

Given that after 25 years of biking and driving or
That's a little like saying the chances of you crashing are remote because
you've never crashed before. Who the **** knows what's around the next
corner?, but as I said before, you know best.

    There's a Fiat 126 round here with a 4 cylinder Porsche 911 engine in
    the back.

  9. Quite. Irn Bru would be the appropriate thing. Accompanied by the rustle

I dunno, it came out of a 1970s 911 that the bloke's father wrote off
    when he was pissed.

I've seen a Smart car with a 'Busa engine in it and it looked like a lot of
    (dangerous) fun, but never a 126 with a Porker motor. I bet it's a **** to
    drive.

If it's a 4 cylinder then it either came out of a 912 or someone's been
sold something with a Beetle engine in the back. The 1970s 912 isn't
that desirable anyway as the engine is AFAIR a warmed over VW 411
    engine.

However the 1960s 912 (yes, they did two different ones) has the proper
Porsche flat-4 out of the 356 in it. One of these days...

One of my dad's mates used to have a VW Transporter with a twin-turbo
911 engine. In fact you may know (of) him - Tim Kemp. He founded 'The
Beetle People' in Princess Risborough, then started up a restoration
business in Newtown, specialising in old Jags.

Must have been a 912 then. I remember seeing the Porsche the motor came
out of and it looked like a 911, but all Porsches with that body shape
    are 911s to me.

Well at the end of the day it *is* the same body, just different
    engine/gearbox and poverty-spec instrumentation.

Was he involved in the Morris Minor resto place which was previously
where the Beetle People were?. Would have been circa 1980

Maybe, maybe not. And maybe the sky will fall on our heads and maybe
it won't. It's not a question of "kowing best", it's making one's own
decision based on the risk that you are happy to take.
