More snow and driving muppetry

It has been a boring evening - Mrs H is 6 hours late home from work,
having spent all that time doing half the distance home. The traffic is
still stationary for miles to come.... (been checking the 'Traffic
Wales' webcams for the last 4 hours)

I can only assume that some complete idiots have no idea how to drive in
the snow, which is causing stupid tailbacks for no reason. That, and the
current trend for people to buy LingLong Ditchfinder Teflon Supersport
    tyres, anyway.

Just to remind me how fucking useless most drivers are these days, I
watched a neighbour take nearly an hour to get their Lexus off the road
onto their driveway. I offered assistance after 5 or so minutes of
watching them revving the **** out of the car and going nowhere, but
    they said they'd be OK....

    FFS.

I'm fucking hungry now - got 2 lovely Sea Bass in the fridge ready to
cook, too, but it looks like I'm in for a long wait.

  2. Can I just say that it's a fabulous evening here in Santiago, and we're
about to sink a couple of pisco sours before wandering out to a nice
    open-air seafood restaurant?

    Cnut. I hate you....

I don't mind driving in the snow, even the bloody Prius, which my
colleagues assured me was 'shit' in the snow has been fine. In fact, it
has been better in the snow than the Passat was. I'd have no problems
going out in it (I got home OK, without even the slightest hint of a
flicker from the 'stability programme' light) - so I have no idea why
anyone else has problems understanding how driving in the snow works.

Looks like a day WFH tomorrow - kicking myself that I never bothered to
MOT the Hongdou, though - and eyeing up the R100RT, but I'm not
    convinced that's a great idea.

It's not only idiots in the snow, it's idiots out of the snow too -
I drove to Monmouth yesterday, along a beautifully clear, salted country
road, but the car at the front of the rapidly increasing queue thought
it was proper and safe to crawl along at 25-30.
    Ye Gods!

He's commonly known as the 'Tiscali Twat' - no matter what you post,
he's done it, and done it better than you, 'cos you're some kind of
idiot and his dad is bigger than your dad, too.

Too much coming the other way.

Mind you, on the way back I was behind a Dinky toy again and began to
groan, but this one put his foot down and proceeded with purpose, and
it turned into an excellent drive. :)

I've been sitting on the edge of my seat. Have you had a fish supper yet?

News reports say Cardiff is at gridlock at Coryton but webcams show clear
    roads.

    You dirty old man!

    Pizza and doughballs.

(Pizza Express - they say you can't cook from frozen, but you can)
Mrs H was queuing all the way along the A4232, along the M4, A470 and
    A469.

May well have cleared now - but 7 hours from St Mellons to here is not
    good.

I got an email from Tenby store asking me if I was still visiting
tomorrow.... tempted to send a photo - 'what do you think?'

My lot decided to call it quits at 1pm today and cancel all business
tomorrow. Went by train today and typically, the 13.50 was broken. That's 1
delayed & 2 cancelled trains in a week, and I've only travelled on 3 days.
    Arriva seem to be cunts.

  14. There was a couple of inches here and today it turned into slush. Slush
with tarmac beneath it grips just as well on my shite summer tyres as
rainy tarmac, but it ensured a muppet shitting themselves enough to
stick to 20mph along the country lane I had to go five miles on and
    couldn't get past.

Need sort of forklift prongs at the front to flip the so-and-so out of
    the way.

Unlike you everyone else isn't a driving god and doesn't have access to
a devastatingly fast cross country weapon?

My Accord has the original fitment Michelins on and they're fucking
useless in the snow. I picked up a colleague from Didcot parkway station
yesterday and nearly got stuck in a few inches of fresh snow in the car
park. L's diesel Polo on the other hand is a hoot to drive when it's
    slippy.

It's just taken me over an hour to get through/round Bracknell. I've
never seen so many stuck cars, vans and lorries in such a small area.

The roads are mainly ice, with a nice topping of snow & slush, and
although I had few issues, I would say that in general driving
    conditions are pretty shit.

I'm not looking forward to the journey home.

I dropped Cal into school at 8am only to be told that it was closed. It
took me an hour to do two fucking miles.

    Grrrrr.
