You're lucky, Vince, they tell me you could get a helluva virus with a leak
    like that.

It's like Morgan said, I didn't 'volunteer' for anything, google it!
If I were going to do any 'splainin', it would be to point out how many
times you've mis-spoken yourself, and then tried to cover up for it by doing
your little dance, instead of 'man-ing' up to it. I think I'll pass. Thanks
    for playing though, lol..lol.

    What a great idea!
Want to make a living in the tech field? Afraid you don't have the knowledge
to make a living at it? Here is how to get started with very little or no
    knowledge of the tech industry.
If you ever get a client, screen the client. Once you determine what the
client wants done, stall him. Post here a message giving details as to how
to perform the services the client desires. I say post here because almost
everyone here probably knows more than very little or nothing, with some
exceptions. Albert, Morgan, and Pierce, in response to a way off post, will
post correct methods to accomplish the tasks, free of charge. You see, these
guys make a good living doing that type of work. They're good at their job,
and unselfishly share their knowledge with upcoming wannabes. Print out
copies of their replies, organize, and prepare a presentation. Contact
client and setup another meeting, stating you're ready to give him a bid.
Once the client sees that you (uh huh) know your stuff your likely to get
the job. Repeat as necessary. You can also use notes from the presentation
to response to Morgan, stating that was what you said to begin with. If he
disagrees, tell him he can't read and Nurick is a coward.

good luck with your first big money

My irony meter just went off scale and bent the needle.

If a firewall was a crush washer, daddy Walker would have to say that
Junior can't change the oil on his "little cruiser".

    LOL, indeed.

Afraid Morgan is correct, definitely a malfunction. Following is an
actual post from brian, a couple days ago in another thread. My walker
translator decrypted his message with perfect clarity:

  10. Things are quite compartmentalized and the number of DNS machines is
significant and they are segregated. Encryption is used, etc. Multiple
    DMZ's are deployed as well.

Logs are rather chunky but they are distilled regularly using a variety of
    programs.

I hope that answers your questions.

Sure. This would be ideal. All it takes is money...money better spent on
    some other system than mine.
All our systems are under a current security policy which is satisfactory.
VISA and MC services that we supply should and will have a different policy.
Again, my systems contain no cardholder data and so shouldn't be impacted by
    any PCI security standards.
My system *is* the change control process.

  12. As long as your systems cannot contact the secure systems all should be
fine. You in essence have a isolated secure rail for your custormers data.
It may be good enough. The only way to know for sure is to request a 3rd
party audit. God forbid a hacker can use your systems to compromise the
    secure systems.

Interesting concept. You must be in charge of a small shop so to speak.

If you'all will hold on just a little while, Albert Nurick is probably
away riding his motorcycle and when he gets back he will get all this
networking buisness straightned out for you. LMAO

I suppose. My system processes 50,000 to 60,000 tickets a month or so,
including Incident, Problem, and Change Management records...supporting
about 1,500 users. I gather from others that we have a large installation.

  16. At my previous job I supported 12,000 users. The number of transactions
processed daily? I cannot remember. After I left they hired 2 guys to do
    what I did.

  20. Email and general purpose computing was a DEC Alpha machine running Unix.
We had a larger Dec Alpha for research computing. We had other machines
for things like web server, DNS, etc. Most were Dec Alpha. We were trying
to get the email server ahd reseach computer upgraded to a single E10K when
I left. The last I heard they changed gears and bought a farm of about 20
NT machines to handle email and web services. I have no idea what sort of
    support staff they added.
