    Here's a wonderful quote:

"The most common reason for women not cycling was not feeling it was
safe enough, and 33% of those they spoke to said if cycle lanes were
kept clear of all vehicles except buses, it would encourage them to
    cycle more."

Cycle lanes. Not bus lanes, cycle lanes. That happen to also have buses
    in.

If that doesn't sum up the mentality and sense of entitlement, nothing
    does.

  4. Lanes 1a and 2a not belong to you then?

Yeah, I've read a lot of the comments now[1] and it's not as bad as I
    thought it might be.

  6. Balanced?

"The [first 18 month] TfL trial showed no threat to cyclists' safety from
motorbikes in the actual bus lane."

Since when has utter fucking lies been balanced? I mean, what is the point
of using the bus lane if not to terrorise other road uses in some uniquely
    bikeistic manner?

  7. Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, ogden
Heh. Over the weekend I stopped when leaving my drive to let a cycle
    club pass.

Shan't make that mistake again. Ignorant cunts, to a man (four abreast
    at < 20 MPH).

  8. Actually, thinking about that, if you had said 1a then I would have had to
agree with you a bit. I am not fond of that one as it goes so we shall
call it "N-1a not belong to you then" shall we?

Aren't most cyclist deaths due to lorries, not motorcycles?

I've actually been goaded into joining the ranks of road cyclists - I'm
doing the BHF London-Brighton run next month. On a tandem.

We did some training rides over the weekend. The acceleration on a tandem
is surprisingly brisk (so long as the stoker is relatively fresh) but you
have to be a bit careful that the normal filtering instincts don't kick
in, since although the vehicle is narrow the length is about 2.5m so you
    can get a bit stuck.

    Sounds like my commute.

I've just bunged a couple of comments on that article and the author's
agreed with one of my criticisms of cyclists. It's a far more balanced
article than some of the stuff that's been posted by the lycrajihadin on
    the site before.

    Which is nice.

What you have to understand is that they are not holding you up they are
merely "managing the traffic around them".

    Ahh, MAMIL.

    [Middle-Aged Men In Lycra]

The ones that walk with that strange clacking noise, who can't get up
the ramp to the shop door without hanging on to the handrail 'cos their
shoes don't grip on smooth concrete. Apparently they complained about
accessibility, so the shop owner hoisted their bikes off the pavement
and into the road for them.

I've thrown a few in. There are some basket cases who simply don't realise,
or want to admit, just how fast an adept gentleman can cross the cityscape
on a large Sprotbike or Traillie. Be fun to strap them to the Pillion Pad
for an education. And they *still* don't realise that VED gives us rights.
Even if they aint given we are taking them.

I'm going back to reading up on high performance electric cycle conversions
now. My current mini obsession. I know I want a Panasonic/Cyclex crank
drive type system but I want 1kw and nobody is co-operating.

    It's cyclists.
And as always there is more than a grain of truth and intent.

Read what I wrote. The comments are balance being both from cyclists and
from motorcyclists. I also said the article was crap.
