    Subsequent to yesterdays post;
I got a letter back today stating that my excess was an uninsured loss and
that I would have to take action against the driver who hit me. Bennetts
claimed that as they are acting as agents, Equity Red Star, (the insurer),
should be the ones I contact.
There was no mention of the fact that they have been buggering about since
Sept 07 on this claim or any other form of admission of any sense of
    customer service.
I would be most grateful for anyone with legal knowledge to advise if their
    stance is correct.
    DON'T USE BENNETTS

    Sounds about right.

I'm still waiting for solicitors to claim back my excess and clothing in
the courts[1], after being t-boned by a car last May.

[1] They are now booked solid for 2 weeks due to Wimbledon.

So tht's Bennets, Swinton, CN and a few others that should be avoided like
    the plague.

We're using a firm these days that takes ALL the shite out of
handling/dealing with insureres if you're involved in a "not your fault"
claim. You're would be a prime example.

You simply ring these people and they provide you with a car (or bike), they
take NO money off you, you don't even pay your excess as they sort that out
too, they also arrange for quotes on your damage and if you're injured,
they'll recommend a solicitor to deal with any compo claim. (you don't have
to use their recommended solicitor either) and YOU choose where the repairs
are carried out. All their costs are met by the "guilty party" so you pay
    out nothing.

I can't remember the name of the firm, but if anyone's interested, I'll post
it tomorrow when I've "been reminded", along with any other details I can.

Did you pay out for uninsured loss cover ? Go use that if you did
Less than a year, well done
    Better ask a solicitor then.
You get what you pay for.

  8. I got a great quote (and took it today) direct from Equity red Star who
were my underwriters with Carole Nash. CN wanted 218 quid for my renewal
TPFT for everything everyone else has with them but when I phone ERS,
I got all of the above plus like-for-like bike replacement, courtesy
vehicle, 100 quid off any fully comp!

  9. Oh yeah, and a 250 quid excess as opposed to 450 with Carole Snatch.

I parsed that as Bennets, Swindon, CN and thought they'd moved to
    China.

Sounds like the people who started with my case - Bikers Legal Defence
in Ringwood. They leant me a bike (Bandit 1200) & helmet for 60 days (I
think), which would have been at no cost but I took out the "everything
including writing it off" waiver for £20, but then because the other
guys insurers just sat on things it all stopped and they handed it over
to solicitors, which is where I am now.

They're the insures I'm with through Swinton. I don't know who are the most
incompetent at dealing with customers though, but ERS hven't given me any
grief over the wife's claim against me. Yet.

Yep, same thing happened with me when I got a renewal quote from Bennets.
Nearly half the price from Swinton.

But do you? I know a couple of blokes who've had problems getting anything
done through Bennets who charge (well wanted to charge me) nearly twice as
much as I'm currently paying and I'm having no claim issues.
