Did anyone say insurance was getting more expensive or that Auntie Carol had
    lost her mojo?

Me. Ducati. Recent claim. 7 years NCB. Comp. £100 excess.
    £226.
Add 2nd bike, BMW for £50

I was paying the same 20 years ago. Outstanding.

I pay about that for all 4 bikes - although I have more NCB and no
    claims.

Following on from my earlier post I'm still struggling to get six of
our bikes insured. Six years NCB and no claims although I did dump a
bike in 2009 for which I made no claim.

Adrian Flux: ~£800 but want me to use an approved lock on every bike
including when it is in the garage. I don't have six approved locks, I
CBA anyway and will almost certainly forget so I've dismissed that
    one.
Bennetts: Their system was 'Unable to quote' after I spent ages
    filling in the web forms
BikeTeam (ERS): Won't insure an over-bored Hayabusa. No idea why.
No-one else (except perhaps Bennetts) has a problem with this, they
    just increase the premium.
Carole Nash: Should be back with a quote today.
eBike: Two polices (max. four bikes per policy), £960 which is 'Ouch!'
but looking likely at the moment. It's the no NCB on the second policy
which pushes it up a lot.
MCE: Filled in form for one bike but no button enabling me to
    continue. I suspect the site isn't Firefox-friendly and I can't be
bothered to do it again in IE.

Last time I tried Swinton (2 years ago) they came back to me with what
they thought was a great quote which was more than twice the one I
    went for (BikeTeam).

I couldn't think of anyone else to try and it's decision time this
    week.

Mine's gone up by about £30..

But that's still £100 less than the competition can do.. Just
speaking to the chap on the phone and apparently my notes say they
should continue to apply their best discounts since I kicked up a fuss
at their joke quote a couple of years back.

    :)

You could try Royal and Sun Alliance - they do multibike and came in
significantly lower than CN for me (although European cover is an add on).

I managed to keep full NCB on the car despite a claim as it was
protected. I moved insurance the following year along with a letter
    detailing 9 years NCB.

Are you having a senior moment?

He has car & bike policies. He could prang a car[1] and make a claim. The
claim has to be declared to the bike insurer at renewal time which might
load the premium. Car NCB might go down which won't affect the bike NCB.

[1] one of his own or one borrowed or hired

  11. Depends on if and how they protect your NCB. Auntie Carol will allow me
to have two more bikes stolen this year before it affects mine.

I think my reply to Pip is that they protect the NCD. Up to a point.

And is the winner at £730'ish. The person I was dealing with at Carole
Nash was very friendly and helpful - it was almost a pleasure.

    Just had a reminder for the XJ6: £175 against last year's £95.

Getting a quote from the website gave a much more acceptable £105.

    But why?
