More cable stuff

How do I tell the difference between normal control cables and ptfe lined
type and which are likely to be on 1990 Kawasaki?

<cough> /before/ I oil them.

 

I got caught on the Beemer that way: I oiled my nice new cables
carefully before fitting them. :-(

When I got the replacements (sigh), you could see the liner at the carb
end (I think it was), as the ferrule cold slide down leaving bare
outer+liner on one end.

If that's not possible, you might try pulling the inner back slightly
and feeling for any PTFE liner gently with a paperclip.

Or (best?) could you perhaps ring a Kwacker main agent and ask them what
was fitted?
