What do the cognoscenti reckon to these?

Okay, so that paint job's a bit, ummm, something, but just look at the
    list of advantages:

    a) It should be easy to find in a field full of BMWs;
    b) There is no (b).

1996? That's a bit modern, isn't it? I suspect this will go *way* above
what I'm willing to pay, but I'll keep an eye on it just in case.

Certainly lends a new terror to poverty. I like the way the paint's falling
off around the "Dream Machine" tag.
Paint has got to be better than the other one.

    Stylish, my arse.

Also, as it's a first year K, the head isn't designed to be run on
unleaded. The owner *may* have run it with an additive, but then again
they may not. I wouldn't take a chance.
Far better choice, and if it's been looked after properly it should go
    on for quite some time.

That said, the weather protection on RSs isn't that great. IMHO the
full-on tourers do make better winter hacks.

    It's ideal.

It's going to be cheap, they're comfortable to ride, not bad on fuel,
good for about 135mph and you can load it up with all your junk.

I know Timo has pointed out about the unleaded 'problem' but I don't
look on that as a major issue with a winter hack. You're going to
crash it in Germany so engine issues are the last thing to worry
    about.
I think you're right, it's a bit new and the price will go a lot
    higher.

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" ... as long as they're registered
    blind, that is.
The first Ks were 1983, weren't they? And this was first registered
August '84. I'll ask for the chassis number, that'll tell me for sure.

How big a problem is it, anyway?

Thank you for your vote of confidence.
Over 2.5K, I'd guess. Way more than I want to pay.

That's the BMW Motorsport colours. Therefore, it will invariably be a
lot faster than most of the standard coloured ones, but not as fast as
    a red one, obv.

That's the sort of reasoning I like.

You say that, but that doesn't appear to be the case from where I'm sitting.

Taking the head off is a POP and there are only 8 seats to have replaced
anyway, if it comes to it.
