monster clutch rattle ?

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by isaac_the_blind, Aug 17, 2006.

  1. Well, the associate bought the Ducati Monster. It's got a half cover
over the clutch ( supposedly genuine D part). at idle the clutch RATTLES
but when clutch lever is pulled in rattle goes BUT high pitch noise
    appears, sound like dry/failed bearing.
    Is this normal ???

Sounds like it needs a clean out to me, you local bike dealer can do this
our you can do it yourself.

Second thoughts it may just need a bit of a run to clear out the dust.

  5. I have a dry clutch Ducati and my clutch rattles in neutral with the clutch
out, rattle disappears when the clutch is pulled in, as is your associates
    experience
I do not however hear a high pitch noise with the clutch in but I have the
original "full" cover which may have the effect of masking this noise

cant see how riding around with half the clutch exposed to dust,
small birds etc is a good idea :-(

  10. Think of the weight saving, I know it's sprung weight, but still a great way
to improve performance by as much as 0.00379%
    And it looks Horn
