Moneyback credit cards

Just about every non-cash transaction I do is via my credit card and
this includes a fair amount in expenses. I always pay it off in full so
I have no interest in balance transfers and 'low interest rate offers'
since these are just strategies to make me owe money I don't have and
pay interest on it long term.

All a credit card can offer me that I'm interested in is moneyback.

My current one has started being picky about which transactions they
give me moneyback for (some retailers don't qualify) and have applied an
annual limit after which they won't pay moneyback. The cunts.

So, who will give me unlimited moneyback and with all retailers?

I've seen Amex seem quite good but understand their card isn't that
popular and some places don't take it.

Who would people suggest? 'Google' isn't much help because I'm too lazy.

I'm currently throwing all expenditure through my "Egg Money" account.

1% on everything: 5-10% with selected retailers.

4% gross AER paid on credit balances.

Disclaimer: I am a shareholder, but not for much longer, and I
certainly haven't made any money of that status.

Salad Dodger emerged from their own little world to say
What he says. Except the upper limit seems to be 20% with Virgin Wines.

They have just had a "bonus month" of 2% on everything.

The other one I use is Morgan Stanley Platinum.
    http://www.morganstanleycard.co.uk/
They have a promo of 2% until April 2006. Then drops to 1%. Any purchases
    over £2000 annually get 0.5%

Both of the above are Mastercards. If you want a VISA card too then just
get a normal Egg credit card.

When travelling overseas I take all 3. Carry 1 VISA & 1 M/c. Stash the
other M/c under the bike seat or in luggage somewhere as a contingency.

.... and 10% at Currys, which would be useful if the fuckers ever
re-stocked with Canon cameras, the bastards.

It would be useful if egg actually a) set your account up when you
asked them to and b) sent the cards out.

Hmm. That's no good then. Fuckers.

Why do people cap cash-back? Surely they see it's a disincentive to
spend. The more I spend the more they make.

Hmm, having looked at it I've got to 'pre-load' it with cash then. Not
sure that's so good for me since I'd have to find a reasonable sum to
sit in the account to avoid paying interest. My expenditure is not that
predictable month on month, depends on the travel I'm doing really.

Mmm. It's not that clear is it.

It works like a proper Mastercard if that's what you want. Pay it off each
month, pay no interest. Up to 50 days free credit. 1% cashback on
everything. More if you buy using the links from their shopping portal.

If you decide to load it with cash then they will pay you 4% interest. I
have no idea who they are targetting with this feature. It is redundant as
    far as I'm concerned.

If you still don't trust it then there is the bog standard Egg Visa card
    which pays 1% cashback too.

If it's anything like my corporate Amex you'll be ok with most of the
the chain hotels, and branded petrol stations, but it'll turn out to be
a waste of time trying to use it at many restaurants, supermarket
filling stations or smaller privately owned establishments.

The bit on the preceeding page which said "pay only 6.9% if you go into
the red" made me thing it was only for pre-paying.
Hmm. It might be worth considering. Thanks.

I get 1% back on *all* txns from my Amex Blue, but yes you need to
carry an alternate card for those places who don't take it. My
current Visa card is from HBOS (formerly a Paramount card) which only
gives 0.5% back. I also currently have cashback cards from Egg and
    Cahoot for historical reasons [1]

[1] It is reassuring to know you have one spare card hidden in a
separate place from your wallet about your person and another one kept
at home, when away from home.

    for it become so).
