A round for all present whilst I describe the morning's events...

Enjoyed a nice Monday morning ride this morning. Left
Area 51 (Flower Mound) along 1171w. North on 377 into Argyle
then west on 407 towards Justin (as in the boots).

It was amazing how cool it was and how good everything smelled.
Got to 156 and headed north towards Krum. There's some destruction
along there north of Justin but not too bad. The road was still smooth
    and wide open.

Got up to Krum and found out my buddy wasn't home so that forced me
to swallow my pride (and a few fresh tamales and a REAL DP) and continue
on. Up 2450 to 455 then headed east on 455.

There's a nasty stretch of 455 just east of Sanger that has recently had
a fresh coast of asphalt and gravel put down. That was only a couple miles
    before it got clean again.

The haul around the south end of Lake Ray Roberts was fun - it's amazing
how smooth 95 feels on the RK. BTW - it was good to have a wind/bugshield.
Road through a flock of 'friggin huge' grasshoppers. A couple met my
bugshield but a couple more found my shins. I'm also glad I was wearing
mid-calf boots. Those bugs left their marks and everything they had on my
jean just above the ankle. I felt it when they hit and wondered if it was
stones until I saw the bugshield victims.

Got into Pilot Point and continued east on 455 into Celina then south
    on 289.

Going through Prosper I saw ???'s mansion. I heard a while ago it was
Deion "Dig Me" Sanders humble abode but I never heard for sure. It
    doesn't matter - I'll never afford it.

Came down to 380 and aimed west towards Denton Co. 380 is a MAJOR
speedway (or it can be) ;-)

Four or six lane divided concrete from McKinney to Denton now.

Cruising back into Denton County I made sure that the original Parker
Brother's TrailDust Steakhouse is still in existence. Wanted to lunch
there but it was closed so I kept on going.

Came up to the intersection of 380 and 424 and saw Prarie House.

It opened a few years ago but I had never stopped in. I was going to go
past until I caught a whiff of some tasty mesquite grilling.

Turned around and pulled in for a tasty buffalo burger and topped
it off with a few DPs and some blackberry cobbler.

Prarie House is a chain I suppose. The wife and I have been to the one
in Roanoke several times and have always enjoyed it. This one was no
    different (other than its location) 8-}

Got back out on 380 heading towards Denton when I came up on some
    bunched up traffic.

    Knowing that a traffic pattern like that means either;
    1) grandpa and grandma in the left lane out sightseeing
    2) someone is lost
    or
    3) a member of the law enforcement community is present.

Unfortunately #3 did't occur to me until I zig-zaged through the bunch up
and was back in the left lane going about 70.

Then I saw him. One of Denton County's finest was sitting on my tail so I
put the right signal on and moved over to the center thinking he was about to
put the lights on. He didn't, he just moved over with me. The speed zones
dropped from 60 to 50 to 45 and still no lights.

Got in the left lane (again remembering to use electronic and hand signals)
and sure enough, he followed. Made a left at the light to get on 288
south and cut so sharp that the floor boards scraped. Oops, didn't mean
    to show off Mr. Officer.

Got on 288 in a 40mph zone. Still no lights. Got up to a light at 456 where
he made a right to go to the station. I saluted him (old fashioned
military style, NOT the one finger style) and said THANK YOU.

BTW - stay off 288 in Denton. Remember the hill that USE to be right
after Golden Triangle Mall... Yup, gone. Or in the process of being made
gone - i.e. bad traffic and road.

Finally got on to I35E south to head back to Lewisville. I guess visitors to
Texas don't realize that "stay to the right" means them too. Two vehicles
both with out of state plates (one Okie - which explains alot) and another
unidentified. I think they both saw the rainbow strobe bouncing around
and thought they were about to have a LEO experience so they just slowed
down instead of moving left (as a few folks wiith Texas plates had done)/

Finally got around them and got into the home stretch. Left around
9:30 and got back around 1:30. Only did a couple hundred miles but boy
was it fun. I love Texas.

Dang.. that was a nice little morning ride, Bill..<the other still got a
    clean
record One>.. I gotta admit that I was just a tad surprised to see a ride
report from someone other than the old retired timers like me and a few
of the other seniors on here.. Especially coming on a Monday morning
when most of the guys are commencing their work week..

Reads like the oil leak is finally fixed and that is good news.. Those bug
screens sure help, don't they ? It's been so many years since I've ridden
without a windshield, I wouldn't know how to act..

    Good ride report..

    snip my stuff...
Yeah, the boss originally told me I was going to working on a couple hot
projects so I had to cancel my Sturgis run. He then came back to me on
Friday and said "yeah, go ahead and take a few days off". I guess my
aksing some of the CHL holders for use of their handguns gave him the idea
    I needed some time off. 8-}

I'm taking Tuesday and Wednesday off too - Got a Dr appt. Tuesday AM but
figure I'll do some more riding Tues & Wed before pulling an all-nighter
    at work Thursday night.

Not at all Bill. I'd enjoy the company. The names will be easy to
remember too. Maybe we can hook up for a Wed. ride. Anyone else game?
The only stipulation is that we may have to call you 'Bill' to avoid
    confusion.

Having met Brian several years ago I realize that the "more vintage"
Walker is probably a better quality - kind of like wines, ya' know?

    ;-)

Sorry Brian - couldn't resist. The heat today caused extra fat cells to
burn which released the hidden store of New Jerseyian out.

Well Ed, please accept my apologies for confusing you. If you want to
hook up with me and Bill for a ride this week while I'm off I can draw
some pictures and bring them for you? Would that work? ;-)

Call 'em and tell them you are sick..
"The other clean driving record Bill" might be too perceptive for
you to give that kind of advice to...

Say BillC. If ya havent been around Brian, in the past year....you
wouldnt know it was the same feller I bet.

---Shoot, Brian has simmered down, since when I first come on this group
5 years ago. ---Shoot, he hardly cusses folks anymore, and hardly calls
    folks bad names, anymore.........

I met him, at the end of April and was pleasantly surprised, just how
much of a gentlemen, he truly was.

I was concerned some what, that he'd try to whup my redneck
    ass........but he didnt.
