Mixture 2stroker versus4

    A question for all you tech heads out there.
    Why if you open up the airbox on a two stroke will you get detonation
    (without rejetting). When a four stroke will not detonate when you do the
    same thing. I know that to achieve the most potential from the mod a four
    stroke will need rejetting or a remap if fuel injected, but you won't burn
    holes in the pistons if you don't either, but with the two stroke you will
    or could. I know this from experience, but what makes it so?

    You will get detonation on both 2 & 4 strokes

    Reason is that the bike is running too lean as it is getting too much air in
    the air/fuel mix.

    As 2 stokes are in a greater stage of tune, they will detonate faster than
    the 4 stroke.

    If you run the 4 stroke long enough, you will get a holed piston as well

    what bike, what mods ??

    some bikes are jetted rich from the factory

    if worried get it on a dyno with a mixture probe

    not much dollars to find out
