Decided to check the brake pads on the 13 today.

By 'eck, it's easy nowadays, isn't it?

Two pins, lift spring, pull out pads.

Clean, replace, refit. Two minutes a side, tops.

Then thought I'd find out what the Quill sounds like with the baffle
    out.

Insert 4mm allen key into bolt; turn; shear bolt.

    Arse.

Can off, dremelled it flush (a drill wouldn't touch it) then push out
    baffle.

Cut through the captive nut with a cutting disc, and the bolt stub
    fell out in two pieces.

Baffle is a three inch long but of pipe, not exactly cutting edge
    technology.

Started bike, endured raucous cacophony for 30 seconds, refitted
    baffle with new bolt (copaslipped)

Fitted MRA screen - very smart.

Finished off with a good wash (to remove those Welsh insects), and a
    dusting of Mer.

    All nice and shiny, now.

    Probably rain tomorrow.

  2. Wish I'd bought something more modern.

Put the crankcase lower on the CB72 a couple of days ago after fitting
the missing kickstart parts. Yesterday decided I'd have "10 minutes in
the garage" to refit the oil pump. Hah! Two gaskets where I thought
there was one and twice the surfaces to clean of stubborn gasket,
refitted in just under an hour. Today - have "10 minutes in the garage"
to re-fit the rotor/stator and front sprocket. Front sprocket - easy.
Rotor - not. The inner rotor holds the starter clutch which involves
three springs holding in place three cylindrical parts, trying to keep
them in place while fitting the rotor over the woodruff key is a
nightmare. Then it took 20 minutes to refit the stator as it's a bit of
an arse fitting it without fouling the starter chain.

Still got the clutch and external gear selector to fit. <barely
    contained sob>

This brings back many memories of rebuild my CB77, re-sleeved from 305 to
347cc for club racing, back in 1978.
