    Says it's a 1971 CB500 Four - it's a late 1970s 550K. I've told the
plonker it's a 550, not a 500, and he says the previous owner registered
    it as a 1971 500.

Sounds well dodgy to me - any thoughts? His FB is good, but what he's
flogging simply isn't what he says it is.

Why not just buy it, and flog it on to Hog as a "Classic"? :)

He wants it to be a '71 so it's tax exempt.

  5. Clocks and instrument console are CB550 (same as 400 Four). CB500 had a
horizontal idiot light strip, not vertical.

    Rear oversized tail light.

Rear chrome grabrail is CB550 - never fitted to the 500.

    Indicators are flat-lens, not conical.

    Tank and panels are 550.

    This is a CB550:

And this is a 500 Four

His bike *might* be a Continental import, like Italian, where they made
500cc versions of 550s available elsewhere (Italy got the Suzuki GS550
    as a GS500), buut there's no way on God's earth it's a 1971 bike.

It looks like a bitza to me, and may have been based around a 500 frame.

That would go with my theory that it was one of those Continental
    550s-sold-as-500s.

All the bodywork and stuff certainly isn't 1971, mind.

And if it was a German import, I'd say so on the auction page, but it
    doesn't. Yeah, it's a complete bitsa.
