I though Krusty did it recently, and whinged about how dull it was.

The road down there is rather good south of Clermont Ferrand..

Up over the Auvergne twisty bits they have warning signs depicting hooligan
bikers with their knee down to keep the cage drivers on their toes as
there's likely to be some high speed two wheel traffic.

    Do it.

I'd love to include it on the North Africa run, but it's about a hundred
    miles too far east.

It's at least 150-200 miles out of my way[1] but I'm going there anyway.
I might spend a day or so riding the coast road from St Tropez to
Monaco, it all depends on how much time I have to catch the ferry to
    Malta.

  8. That would make an *ace* T-shirt design.

I've already earmarked the D907 just north of there, which was the
twisty road trhough some gorges where the Ferrari showed its true
    colours.

Do you actually have a plan for this trip? Like, when, ehere, who?
Only I'll be wanting to do something again, and I dare say some of the
other regulars may be up for it, so maybe we should co-ordinate them.

Did the bridge this year (last month) - went over it, peeled off at next
intersection and came back under it and stayed
just near Millau town ( bit of a dump) in a hotel which was a lot of a dump!

Yes - It was 3-20 Euros / is open to bikes and was a glorious sunny day
    about 4-00 in the afternoon.....

It is quite long as far as bridges go.... but the extensive glass wind
    deflectors/protection from side winds does
take a lot of the views away, and as such we felt it was a bit of an
anti-climax after looking forward to it as one of the highlights of the
    trip....

Yes - it's got to be done if you are "in the area", and the roads down there
are varied and good, but I am not sure I would
make it the reason for a trip....

We diverted on the way back to go via the Pont de Normandie, (near Le Havre)
which, whilst tiny in comparison (and free to bikers I seem to recall) gives
to me (us) much more of a wow factor....

Got a few pics if anyone interested

I went under it, but not oop top. I wouldn't say it was dull, but it
didn't make me stop in my tracks & go "Cooooo!", iyswim.

Aye, I'd be one. Plus, I have folks who live about 40km from Millau in
    a Southwardly direction.

Its impressive watching cars swerving about at relatively low speeds as the
driver tries to look around whilst crossing....
They built it partly to relieve the congestion in the village. I would
assume that most people will do just what I did and make congestion worse as
they go into the town to look up at it , before heading off over the
    viaduct.
Summer'll be a bit of a 'mare getting into town though. Which brings us
neatly back to why they built the viaduct.
    I have. He's right.

Anyone planning a visit is welcome to stop off here on the way and then take
the D911 almost all the way to/from Millau...

I just prefer nature's art. The glaciers & waterfalls along the Susten
were far more impressive (to me).
