Having just been reading the November issue of bike I see that the
Milan show is on early November and that just happens to be the same
    time as Adies birthday.

She seems to think she wouldn't turn down the offer of a trip to Milan
for her birthday but is the show worth going to? If not then bollocks
to it, we'll go into Bedford for a few beers and a curry but if it's
better than the NEC abortion then we'll probably go.

We've been to Milan before so I know it's a nice place to spend a
weekend and the Duomo (is that what it's called?) is pretty
spectacular but I want to do a day of bike show and a day of cultural
shit like drinking beer and eating food.

It's the *only* show to go to for anyone thinking of getting an MV...

    It' a bike show!

You've seen em before you'll see em again. Take her to Venice or some
    other romantic place.

Actually it'll be a couple of days after her birthday.
Do you *really* think I'd have posted my original message if she
didn't fancy the idea of flying out, doing the show, doing a bit of
sight seeing then flying home? Last time we went to Milan she insisted
on going to see a fucking football ground so a bike show will be a
    pleasant change for her.

    Good point.

She won't dare ask me what I want for my next birthday when we're
stood looking at the MV stand.

This is all assuming that I can get flights for under £25 or we're not
    going.

    I can imagine the conversation...

Andy: "This year my darling, for your birthday I'm going to take you up
    the Grand Canal"

    Adie: "Whose birthday is it?"

It's many years since I went to the Milan Show, but it's one of the
biggies, and wy, way better than the shit they put on at the NEC. For
a start, there's a chance of actually seeing something new. And all
the stands displaying Italian accessories, gear and tuning bits are
    sensational.

Part of it is the way they lay the stands out. Imagine Italian couture
window dressing, and apply it to bikes. Artistry.

Milan's a great place, as well. Not cheap, but the restaurants and
shops are sensational. She'll melt the credit card.

You'll probably be able to buy an entire airline for £25 by the end of
    the week.

I'm going for work (on the sleeper from Paris). As for Milan, I'm not
a great fan. Compared to other Italian cities it's a bit too
Northern. The food is excellent, though, especially around the canals.

and this point hadn't crossed your mind when suggesting it? I
certainly spotted the connection last night.
I've offered to buy you a new bike before now and you've always turned
    them down.
pah. looks like we're not going then.

Do it, then when Adie and I get bored of bikes we can do girlie things
(well as girlie as we ever get)
No idea but I'm planning on wandering round Milan while he does his
    academic stuff.
It's meant to be *the* bike show.
Other than the Duomo what's worth seeing?

you mean sitting in a bar and eating ice cream.
or sitting in a bar and drinking beer.
better go and look then. I did notice women get in free on the Friday

   )
dunno. cant remember now. I have a guide book though. I vaguely
remember an arcade with a stunning glass ceiling.
