Well thanks to Loz for introducing me to the Mightyvac brake bleeding tool. Almost like being back in a pro BMW workshop! It's one of these: www.premiertoolsinternational.co.uk/products/Mityvac_Automotive_Tune_Up_Kit.htm which Hein Gericke are selling for £33 I never had much trouble bleeding brakes with the "one way valve tube in a jar" method but this is so much less mess and hassle and easier for one man operation. I suspect it gets a lot more air out of a system than pumping the cylinder. It seems to be a very flexible little bugger with varied uses. According to some email I've had not having a cock quite as large as Mandingo is holding me back. I've got some transparent plastic drain pipe, araldite and an o-ring kit. I may be gone some time.
