FWIW, i used a GPS for my trip thru new mexico last week on my BMW R1100RT
and noticed that the GPS showed only 68.5 when the speedometer was showing
    75. That means my clocked 81 in 70 ticket probably was showing 90 or more
MPH on my speedometer. Lucky I was not really doing 90.

I assume if the manufacture makes a mistake like that then if you bring a
vehical in for work that is just out of warranty, you should be able to
streatch the milage out by %25. That figure of %25 they are quoting is
    huge.

  3. Milage doesn't matter for Honda motorcycles - my Valkyrie was 6 years and
the new ST1300 is 7 years with milage not factored in.

I have read the Honda folks don't want to be jammed up for anyones speeding
    ticket or accident liability.

All the manufacturers, not just Honda, design their speedos to read
off a bit. However, it usually shows your mph to be over what you are
    actually traveling.

I am not sure, but I think the only reason this particular instance
was brought to light is because it showed your mph to be under -
causing you to go faster than the posted.

I can't speak for the cruiser riders, and while it is a little known
issue, the sport bike guys have complained about this for years.
