MHR woes

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by Capt About Lunchtime, Aug 23, 2010.

  1. Last weekend I had a minor incident caused mainly from a contradiction
between my attitude, aptitude and ability, resulting in some friction
between fibreglass, bitumen, steel and a large rock 3 metres down from the
    roads edge.

Now I find myself in need of a Headlight, complete, for a Ducati MHR 900
1981 along with a front master cylinder (round 15mm). It seems after a week
of searching on the net that these items are made from unobtainium. That
    rarest of all materials.

I am now seeking recommendations for an "Old School" pannelbeater who may be
able to return my headlight shell and rim to something resembling its former
    glory.

A chap in SE Qld would be ideal but I'll consider any and all.

Any help would be appreciated along with witty sarcasium to lighten my day.

    beer.

You lot in South Australia will be laughing now with all this rain
yiou won't have to add so much colouring or flavouring to make that coopers
    shit taste better

  3. "> Capt... might be of some help??
Thanks JohnO. I've been there allready, no luck I'm afraid.

They did have some front indicators but the postage was 145 Euro after
paying 84 Euro for the 2 blinkers. I ended up getting a pair from Bevel
Heaven for about 150 USD including postage
Most other stuff needed has come locally fron "Road and Race" and Eurobrit.
Can't seem to find the H/Lgt shell, rim and front master cyl. though.

At my age I should know better than to chase Supermotads on tight mountain
roads while aboard a 30 year old duke, while aboard anything really. sigh.
    sometimes I'm such a dickhead

  6. I did have some 1972 duke 750 parts in the shed a few years ago, but I
couldn't find anyone who wanted them, so I let it go really cheap to a poor
desperate little bloke who had spent so much on the bike, that I felt sorry
for him, so I let him have the bike cheap
Or, what was left of it, the original owner siezed the motor at Calder did a
big lock-up and left it in my shed, that was in 1973 and I got rid of it a
    few years ago.
But, in saying that, I haven't really checked the third shed, maybe some
parts are still there, haven't been in there for about two years because of
the ZD Fairlane parked in front of it and I can't get in the door
