Crikey mate, you've got a trailer AND panniers - would sacrificing the
top box be *that* much of a problem? ;-)

You can feed it in _before_ the fuel pump, surely ... or, if it's
downhill of the main tank, plumb in a non-return valve and a little
6psi fuel pump to push it up to the main fuel pump ...

Or plumb it so that when you turn off the 'main' tank tap, the EFI
pump pulls from the 'aux' tank and its return line fills the
main tank from it. Don't use an aux tank bigger than the main
    tank and you'll be fine!

  5. Fuel pump's in the tank. Either way I'd have to cut, tap, weld. May as
well go the whole hog (pun intended) and **** the tank properly!

Agreed. My 850 Guzzi had a 24.5l tank which got me 400 around town and
close to 500 on the highway. The 1000 had a 22.5 litre tank. The 1100
has an 18.75l capacity which get s me 300 kms.

I'd love a 25l tank. A touring cruiser should have a 400 km range even
    when towing a trailer.

    Grrr.

  9. If you're gonna do that, you probably want to put some metho in the tank
to get it to mix in with the petrol...

    Amen to that!

So, if demand is there, why isn't some bastard making them?

How much demand? REmember, the biggest market is the USA, and you can
bet that a) the vast majority don't tour ans b) if they do, they don't
do long stints in places where there's not much petrol.

Plus looks are *way* more important to cruisers. You'd think they'd be
fine with that big fatbob tank look, but how many bikes have that style,
and when they do how much room is sacrificed to framespines for the low
look and all the other stuff hidden there?

I suppose how much effort the factories or aftermarkets go to will
depend on how many people will spend the money. How much would you
    spend on a new tank?

New tanks are pretty expensive. However, had I had the option of a 25l or
larger tank from new, I'd happily have paid another $200 or so.
