I have a Meta Alarm M351A fitted to my bike, which has just packed in
completely. I contacted Meta and they gave me a telephone number for
Target Technology based in Birmingham, who advised me to take the bike
    in to them....

WHOA... slight problem, "I live in IOM", says I, "shall i push it all
the way there!!!" There does not seem to be an agent on IOM
unfortunately. At the moment the bike is an expensive heap of scrap as
I can't start it. I asked Target, if i rip the system out will I be
able to ride the bike, he said no, as the system was intended to stop
    tampering with.

Does anyone know of a way forward? Are Meta telling me porky pies?
Surely if I rip the system out completly, by tracing all the wiring to
all the sensors and removing them, the bike should start? Or should I
scrap the bike, sell it for spare parts on ebay and make the best of a
    bad job.

This alarm system is not all it is cracked up to be anyway, as i have
always been able to move the bike with deactivting the alarm

Many thanks for your comments rude or not, as long as they are
    constructive.

I don't know the details of that particular alarm, however generally...

It depends upon how good a job the installer made of it. If he did as
most do, he will have simply cut wires and put the immobiliser in
series with the cut wires - a single break in the loom. Simply
re-jointing the cut wires of identical colour, should sort out that and
get it going again. Likely immobiliser cut points will be - the
ignition circuit and starter circuit. Once these are remade the bike
    should run.

Expect to also have it connections to... 12v, ground, L and R
indicators. These can be simply cut off and insulated if you want to
remove the entire alarm or left on if not.

A good circuit diagram will help identify from the wire colours exactly
    what the installer has done.

Following a battery going flat, I've had the same sort of thing with the
Meta alarm in the car - it won't respond to the key fobs

The come across as a useless bunch of cunts

    following:
I don't know about yours, but my Meta alarm came with a code that can
override the immobiliser by doing a sort of morse code with the ignition
    key.

I'm fucked if I can remember the number though.

Their website has instruction manuals on it - if you can find the red
card you could try it - hwoever the red card is only to disable the
alarm if the keyfob has stopped working.

If the alarm has packed up (ie nothing happens when you turn the key -
so no alarm, no nothing) then I'm not sure it's going to work.

It would also be a right hassle having to do it each time you wanted to
    use the bike.

Have you tried taking it to your local tame bike dealer and just asking
    them to sort it out?

Thanks guys for your comments so far.

I have found a meta dealer, however he has never heard of a M351a,
being on the Isle of Man, that is par for the course. He told me to
bring the bike to him and he would look at it.

I found the red card and the instructions on the site (for all they are
worth), but it seems that it is the alarm itself that as packed in.

So it is of with the tank and start tracing/sniping/splicing wires, and
bugger the insurance company. I have been on the island 5 years and I
have only heard of one bike stolen, and it was recovered 10 minutes
    after being reported.

    Thanks again
