To your average Joe in a bike shop it's plastic. Tap it, and it
    sounds like plastic.

Oh yeah, certainly been around for a while. I had a Trek OCLV carbon
bike in the early 90s, but I've built a bike from a steel frame
recently that is lighter and stronger.

Carbon full suspension on the other hand is only really just beginning
to become viable, if you count 2 grand frames as viable anyway.

I was being pedantic - your bike, and what most people call "Carbon
Fibre" isn't. It's graphite-reinforced plastic. CF itself is, as the
name suggests, a thread made from carbon (rolled-up graphene sheets).

I haven't checked recently, but are there any vids on the site? Some of
those geezers really *can* make them things fly. A name or two to check on
    the Googleator.

    Jason Krausse (Septic)
    Duncan Osborn (our guy)
    Alan Szabo (Septic) and
    Curtiss Youngblood (Septic)

    Lunatics the lot of 'em.

Westminster Borough (Met) have a truck load of Specialized
Rockhoppers, all battenburg livery, NiteSun blue flashy lights and a
wee little siren. Look quite lovely (no idea what they're like to
ride for 8hrs, mind). They haven't gone down the lycra route.
They're wearing some sort of cycle combat type trousers, and quite a
few of them seem to have those ReeVu helmets (the ones with the
    integral rear view mirror thing).

No surprise that you know these names then...
