As this is written, the funeral procession for Dallas County Sheriff's Deputy Stewart Reeves is beginning to move to the Restland Cemetery at LBJ & Greenville. However, I just can't understand how someone with the apparent experience of Mr. Reeves could have experie- nced such an accident described as - "hitting a curb". That description, or something equally as nebulous seems to be the explanation on many of these fatal accidents. By all accounts, this individual was a very accomplished rider. I just can't understand such a seasoned rider getting into a situation without involvement of another vehicle. I recall back in the 2001 era, a story circulating in the Stroker's crowd about a guy killed when hitting a curb. Of course, it was later disclosed that he was very drunk, a condition that should never be mixed with motorcycles, IMO. I also had a close friend, about the same timeframe, that simply fell off his Road King at about 30mph, and was killed with a traumatic head injury. However, we all believe this accident was actually caused by a heart attack. Reportedly, Mr. Reeves was not wearing a helmet, and that may have contributed to the injur(y)(ies), who knows. I was at Renegade yesterday, and Mike told me that Mr. Reeves visited the shop frequently, and had recently had another accident that had resulted in some bruised or broken ribs. I was in the Northwest Highway / LaPrada area just the other day. I didn't see any obstacles there that seemed any different from any other of the 1,000's of intersections around town. But, I wasn't there to assess motorcycle obstructions. Additionally, Mr. Reeves was reported to be caring for his elderly Mother, as well as a Father and Grandfather. RIP Mr. Reeves. Gary
