Merde ! Paging those who know about nasty looking bits of stuff found in engine sump mesh filters.

I've got the same problem finding a Tiger replacement. That was
originally what I bought the Raptor for, but now I've got it, I can't
face bunging a rack & screen & shit on it.

A later TL-engined Navigator is an option, & having two bikes with the
same engine would be handy, but they're still a bit on the lardy side
at 210kgs. Although some new cans could drop that below 200 I guess.
Think I need to sniff one out for a test ride.

    In communiqué
As I get older I find the combination of height plus weight a problem.
The Roadster has a very low seat height without being a full on cruiser,
and weighs in at well under 200 Kgs. The suspension slung underneath may
    also keep the CoG low.
I suppose I ought to try one. The Voxan power delivery is just *so*
flexible though, hence the ability for even an old gimmer to come
pootling out of the esses at Shelsley in a cautiously high gear and
still be knocking on the ton by the finish line.
Steering lock might contribute to problems keeping it upright when
manoeuvring in tight spots. I'm also not sure I want to lash out that
much cash given the amount of riding I do these days. Good job I didn't
take the 'tart' to the Manx.

I'll wait for a ball park repairs estimate on the Voxan and take it from
there. Of course the mistake I made was not thrashing the nuts off it
for a decent mileage as soon as I got it (it's still only done 13000
Kms). Despite having already been registered in France in 2000 they gave
me a full two year warranty on it running from November 2004.

what you forget is that this isn't a normal trackday. Being in the
slow group this will be the slowest one you'll ever experience.

and if you want to pop over and borrow the FZ1N (or RD350LC if you can
get it started [1]) you'll be very welcome.

    [1] needs the carbs stripping.

    Promise ?
Looks like a few would be Piglets in there as well.
OK, if the GFR is singing up to the red line properly when I come to
scrub in the new tyres over the weekend I'll be there.

Point de Corde say it looks very like crankshaft bearing break up. They
can't be sure of getting the parts, or prices, until early October when
the outfit (Sibel) that bought up all the Voxan spare parts get their
act together. So no impulse purchase will be made.

yep. the main difference is that its a friendly day where everyone
joins in and gets on. if you want to borrow something quicker then
take the R1 out - I wont be doing all the sessions. its not tall or
    top heavy.

It'd be fun to see Pete take my 10R for a session then do the same
with Champs one so he can do a before & after comparism and tell me
whether I should have my engine tuned.

I'm wondering if it allows for promotion and demotion on the day. A
little overly whimsical perhaps, but it's slightly more indicative of
the excitable, or not, character of the session participants than merely
    'slow', medium' or 'fast'.

The Morini Riders always used to have the usual nomenclature plus a
'BOFs' (the allegedly fastest group). These days they have a Morinis
only (or other really slow SO Italian bikes) group, but over the last
few years the 1200 Corsaro riders have been encouraged to accompany the
    other rocket ships.

  14. I'm pretty sure the GSX1100 (the 16v head model) had a shell bearing
    crank, BICBW.

  16. Ah, no, you're right. The GSX750 was plain and the 1100 was roller. My
error. It was all a bit odd, then, because the GS650 (sort of half-way
house between the 550 and the 750, and also available as a Katana model)
had two-valve heads but a plain bearing crank.
