Given that 297lb is just 135kg, I'm pretty sure.

Plenty of 'normal' bikes topped 500lbs (say 230kg), so 300 for the
Behmouth doesn't sound out of court.

KTM are now urging all the KTM teams & factory riders to pull out of
the Dakar. They're also going to reconsider their support of Rally
Raiding following the deaths of Sainct a few months ago, and now Meoni.

Swede PG Lundmark who quit rally raiding last year estimates that
he was WFO 80% of the time on the Dakar. And he is one notch
slower than the factory riders (even if he won a stage or two).

OTOH, it's hard to imagine how this type of bike event could be
made safer. The terrain is what it is and somehow I can't see a
250cc limit on the bikes (Fretigne's 450 is good for some 90 mph).
Speed limitation (used in the truck class, 150 km/h) somehow
    seems strange in racing.

I'm sure that's nothing to do with him being the 2-wheel drive Yam
development rider, & therefore having a head start if the organisers
cut the capacity for next year.
