I have bought higher mileage examplers on the vehicles i've owned, and
got them cheaper. If there's more low mileage bikes around, so much
the better, i'll buy one of those, but i'll expect to pay a premium.

MT5: Bought with 600, sold with "some"
TZR: Bought with 2k, sold with 22k and a blown engine
ZXR: Bought with 0, nicked with 5k
B12: Bought with 24k, sold with 34k or thereabouts
ZX7R: Bought with 18k, demolished with 24k or thereabouts
SV650: Bought with 1800, sold with 5k
GSXR750: Bought with 6k, sold with 8k
GSXR1000: Bought with 3k, time will tell
RGV250: Bought with 8900 (rebuild at 8600), fingers crossed

I always have this nagging feeling about anything that's had its third
service, not because I think it's going to die on me but because I don't
want to push it into a five-digit mileage search bracket on Biketrader
when I come to sell it. Not when there are still plenty of lower mileage
bikes to compete against.

I expect to see some fairly high numbers on the thou by the time I get
rid, mind.

 

Whichever one my "BUY IT! BUY IT NOW" gland twitches at on the day, of
course!

My K8 was perfectly comfortable fully laden for a week around Scotland
last year. 200 mile days. Much better than the 10R to the IOM.

This said, I've never ridden anything other than full-on sportsbikes
so I might find others more comfortable.

The Blackbird never saw a dealer's after the first service, and the
Wing's not been in for 10 years. I don't think any of the others ever
got past a first dealer service, either.

I can't for the life of me remember even remotely what mileage my
previous bikes had, except the last four all started with 0. I've even
forgotten what the 9R had on it - 37k-ish I think.

No just a memory and zero compunction about fudging the figures if I
can't quite remember.

I suspect mine led a slightly less hectic life that yours though!

a) Whilst I would like another one at some point in the future, I don't
want one *now*
b) Eddie's is not green
c) Eddie's is not a C1 (and whilst I'll admit that later models are the
better ones, I'll be doing this for nostalgic purposes mainly).
