    LOUIE , remodling his Valky says this:
    ''Trying to get my Valk to ride a little softer after being on that
    floating ass wing. I let about 10lbs of air out of the tires, and dialed
    down the rear a notch. Plus, based on an idea from an old-timer that
    rode with us, I added a little Seafoam. He sez it stops gas leaks, so
    I'll bet it helps with that foam and all in it. I just took a little
    test ride and I've improved the ride some.
    louie~~~

    I'll clare. Some folks are just hard to please. When we got our mighty
    Valky, we did, and still do think we got us a Bike that rides like
    ''floatin' on a cloud''.
    Shoot, I guess Honey and I have something to 'really' compare it to,
    them VTwins that we rode a coupla years! Consequently this heavy, Flat 6
    powered motorcycle is a dream machine, not one nickels worth of
    vibration! What else would an old feller want, at Trike?????
    I did remodle her backrest, and trimmed some bit of the cushion on my
    seat area, softenend the shocks to their softest, and
    we think we are hotshit. heh-heh- BJAY

    I rode that wing several miles and there IS wind. Maybe thats why
    everytime you see a wing, the riders have helmets on. Ever notice that?

    Then I suggest that ''He'' get some of his money back. They rented
    'him'' one, apparantly with holes in that huge Faring. (chuckle). Maybe
    ''He'' didnt have the air Vents closed?
    They should've atleast thrown in some duct Tape, for ''him''.
    About the Wing Riders, with the helmets, it is because they have built
    in communication. Otherwise I see vthat many with helmets, and I see
    many smoking their pipes, drinking cokes, cruising along the slabs.
    (big ole' redneck bowie county grin)
    BTW, my special deal I told you about turned out to be, quite awesome,
    thanks for asking? (wink)

    u r right bjay. I must be the exception, otherwise there would be a huge
    market for things like wind wings, aftermarket windshields, deflectors, etc.
    It's probably just me.
    If you ever get a chance to ride an 1800, and ride it over 55mph, maybe
    it'll be you too.

    I didn't ride the Wing.. I did ride alongside that sucker off and on for
    three days..
    Couldn't help but notice the effect the wind had on the two up and rider..

    We rode speed for a good portion of the ride.. We also tried that thing out
    at
    speeds of up to 100 mph.. Both the rider and the two up were getting beat to
    death by wind.. I don't believe the wind affected me on my cruiser as much
    as
    it did those two on the Goldwing..

    The performance and smoothness of the motorcycle is without question,
    unequalled..
    There is power to spare and the weight of the Goldwing is neglible, at
    speed..
    That's strictly the opinion that I got from observing the motorcycle's
    performance..
    The rider also described that performance in our conversations.. His
    descriptions
    matched my observations..

    That isn't to take anything away from the Honda Goldwing.. Hell.. I rode one
    of those
    things for more than six years and more than 160,000 miles.. It was probably
    one of
    my favorite motorcycles .. That was a 1984 model Aspencade .. 1200 CC's and
    detailed to show.. I'd think that if some wind is the only criticism that
    we'll hear about...
    the motorcycle will get a plus rating.. Matter of fact, I'll be surprised if
    the rider of that
    rented Goldwing.. doesn't have one in his garage within a month..

    I would imagine that most of us on here, with a little age on us, have
    owned and rode GoldWings, I've had two. Only one of them was a dresser.
    Louie you never owned one, have ya not?
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Anyway,I guess I was stunned to hear a complaint about a GW of all
    motorcycles, the king of the road, the ultimate tour bike, of not
    expertly shielding the wind, at any speed. I rode one about 6 weeks ago.
    Another one of my SIL's wanted me to ride it and give him an opinion. I
    did, and it was so quite, motor wise, and certainly had no gusto wind
    wise. Just like always.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I am okay now, but I actually thought ole' Louie was being humorous,
    kidding around,like his witty self.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    It was such a surprise, to hear that ‘particular complaint’.Maybe to
    hear it rides like a barge, or it is too darn wide, or its not like
    riding a real motorcycle. These are the normal comments I have heard,
    thru the years.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    The newer tour bikes like the Beemers, the FJRs, S1, and those wind
    jammer tour bikes have taken over the soCalled Road TourBikes I think.
    Actually, the Goldwing is almost a Bike of the past, as far as
    popularity,and as far as being the ultimate road bike, according to
    some.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I am not old enugh for one, yet. But someday, I'll probably think on it.
    Nah, Honey has already told me, that when I get where I can't hold one
    up, we're getting a GoldWing Trike, by golly.
    I ask the Honda Store here one time, who buys Trikes? He said folks with
    money and, or, older guys. (chuckle) bjay~
    oh, sorry, forgot about that part.
    the wind is kind of odd, kind of blows down my neck in back.
    to me, it's kind of like living next to a train track, after awhile
    you dont even notice the horn blowing in the middle of the night.
    you get use to it.
    hope that helps.
    I had it all the way up. Higher than on my Valkyrie, but the Valk is much
    better on the wind protection for me.
    Sounds like he has a windshield other than the standard stock. Honda sells a
    larger windshield, and various wind deflectors. This indicates to me that
    Honda is aware that some buyers will need these accessories.
    Of the goldwings I've run across, seems like a lot of the 1800 goldwing
    owners have something extra for the wind. I read that the windshield is
    smaller on the 1800 than past models. Anyway it's bothersome to me and
    passenger, but everybody and their dog sells something to remedy the
    situation. Besides I ain't got none of them 1800's.....yet.... louie
    thought about the Arkansas Foliage. I hope there ''was'' some color, but
    I think, from experience, you guys were about two weekends too early.
    I didn't notice colors other than the blacktop. Those boys I rode with were
    at a pace that didn't allow a glance. I have a tree here in Cowtown, and
    I'll keep a close watch out the window for any changes in foliage color and
    celebrate accordingly.
    <chuckle> I had a damned gas leak..besides all that, I was trying out a new
    belt drive deal.. On top of that, I was baby sitting some nimrod on a sport
    bike
    who couldn't seem to run speed to keep up.. lol.. But, he had the beer..
    And, then too.. besides all that, I'm too damned old.. LOL.. and some lil'
    purty
    at the Lodge was making eyes at me.. whew.. Didn't notice all that color
    stuff..
    Guess I was distracted by too many distractions, huh ?
    Ah well.. soon as you notice all that color change on your tree in Cowtown,
    let
    me know and we'll watch it together.. hmmmm... Can't wait for all that
    celebrating..
    Yes, there were distractions and you dealt with them admirably.
    However I'm running a trace on your posting location to see how you're
    dealing with the A-ttractions.
    will do.... I'm sure the streets will be crowded.
    That answers by curosity, because if those Ozarks mountain leaves were
    in full or even partial color, you fellers would have slowed down to
    take 'em in.
    Actually, around the first weekend in November, is the ideal ''Riding
    time'' up there. The folks up there laugh and say, ''well, Murtle, it is
    about time for all them old folks to come up here, and gaze at our purty
    leaves''. (chuckle)
    I know it. I knew you all were a a few weeksnds too early, but you
    planned it, when you could plan it, I suppose.
    It can be awfully colorful up there, (as you probably know~;), but you
    guys around the Dallas/FW metro, are lucky that Louie has that nice size
    tree, to go and gather around and take some pics.
