Yeah, that really makes sense - change down through the gears then select
    neutral!

Cars and bikes are different, Hatz, as you'd know if you'd ever ridden one.

It's what works for me. Otherwise breakfast takes _hours_.
Packing everything back into the saddlebags the night before
helps too, so you can just throw them over and get moving
in the morning. Otherwise, dither dither dither.

fave touring breakfast: hamburger with the lot.
Yeah, I find that. At about 100, I start looking around for
somewhere nice to stop, eg: lookouts and parks and hamburger
shops. At about 200, I start looking for fuel stops, but I
get the refuel done quickly and hit the road again.
Separating fuel stops and recovery breaks makes the trip much
more pleasant, I think, and encourages you to actually
    relax on your breaks.

Oh, one more luggage tip: if you've got soft luggage, it
isn't really waterproof. Buy a three-pack of those
ultra heavy duty bin bags. If you've got hard luggage,
stuff tends to rattle around in there and get ruined, so
make sure there's enough soft stuff in there to pad things out.
Putting everything in a gym bag inside the hard luggage
makes it easier to keep it all neat, and stops things from
flying all over the place if the lock fails ...

Move the computer into the bedroom Clem, she'll never notice you sniggering
    there.

She'll be confused 'cause it's normally her sniggering.

Wear earplugs & take a spare set (or three). They'll reduce your fatigue
    markedly.

As someone else said, wet weather gear - it'll stop the wind chill as well
    as the rain.

If you get tired - like you can't remember the name of the towns on the last
sign - stop. Powernaps work, and are less painful than some alternatives.

The shortest distance between two points is for people who don't ride.
