[MELB] Group Buy: Motorcycle Alarm

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by John Da BoMMMM, Oct 1, 2003.

  1. gday folks,

if anybody is interested in getting a motorcycle alarm and joining in
a bit of 'economies of scale' action check out this link. and yes,
this is abit of shameless marketing, but i'm not making any profit, so
i dont know what to classify this as. BTW: any interstate ppl
interested can still apply, but might have to pay for postage from
    Melb.

Your post sounds good, but in your costs you haven't allowed for being hit
with customs. I thought rule of thumb was anything over $250-$300 AUD would
    be inspected and customs payable.

Just thought I'd give you a head's up.
I have seen this guy advertise on Ebay for a while now.

And if Customs get involved, there's GST payable on the import and on the
duty. Don't forget the customs agent fees, unless you can do the clearance
yourself. And insurance & freight, of course.

Weeeeeeeell, I've had a few things shipped from overseas and so far
(touch wood) I've never been stung. I got an expansion chamber from
Thailand (no its not some sort of inflatable doll), it was $240US, a
carb + reeds from the same place $181US, and some new rear shocks from
America $250US. Hmmm, no wonder I never have any money. Anyway, I just
took pot luck and so far so good. It might have helped that these
things were spread over three years or so.

    Cheers,
    Ash

Just as a side note........Australian Customs (AFAIK) have one of, if not
the biggest Database in the country.
Just to keep a track of everyone / thing comin in out of the country.

If you can, get these broken into smaller lots......and shipped to several
    mates with different addresses.
Rather than all shipped to you / your name...

Saves the alarm bells going off eh?
