Up until recently Eastlink had signs at each tolling point listing the costs for
that segment of the trip whether it's a casual trip or one with an E-tag.

When I drove through there last week these signs had disappeared.

So, prior to that, people would have had ample warning that with an E-tag the
trip would have cost them significantly less than those who travel without an
E-tag or who don't have an active Breeze account.

I had one dated 24th Jan which arrived a few days ago. It was an impromptu trip,
no tag, or account and a trip that I forgot to pay for when I got home. Cost me
$8.40 or thereabouts from Ringwood to the Monash.

Bzzzt. There is no requirement in Victoria for the driver of a
vehicle to be identified for any tolls or fines. They only need to
identify the vehicle. It is up to the owner of the vehicle to
identify the driver. Backwards facing cameras are used because they
can more easily identify vehicles, not drivers.
That would be a great theory if Citylink tolled motorcycles.. but they
don't... so, how's that motorcycle tolling theory holding up?

Wouldn't it be great if they decided not to toll motorcycles on any freeway
    or tollway?
There would be an upsurge in bike riders, meaning less pollution, less
traffic jams, quicker times to and from work and home

And all we hear from city people are patronising comments about how they
deserve better services and support simply because they live in the city
    and we don't :p

  12. Strange that you should mention that, but when you did, a water pipe comes

Well, it might be for those who don't necessarily own the number plates which
may be attached to their vehicles at the time...

Maybe they're embarrassed at what it costs per sector and don't wish to make it
    overtly public.

Whatever, I got a bill the other day. $8.40 for a one way trip. Mostly "fees,
charges, levies, taxes, rules and conditions" that apply.

A two way trip purchased online before you set out is about $10. Dunno what it
costs if you have an E-tag in the car, nor what they charge bikes. Thing is,
who'd wanna ride on it, anyway. It's not as if it's fun or anything, unless
you're on a cruiser of some description...

$8.40 is a trip one way along a section of the citylink
10 bucks is the cost of a day pass and you can use the link as much as
you like within a 24 hour period but you are not entitled to many day
passes if you are a regular user.
Eastlink cap their one way total trips to a lot less.
No idea about day passes though but if you ride a bike you need a day
pass or an account with eastlink but not citylink.
Just to compound things further if you have a bike registered with
eastlink you will not be charged when using the citylink but if you have
a car account with citylink and an etag then it can be used on eastlink.
Forgetting your etag is a lot cheaper on eastlink as well only 50 cents
    from recollection admin fee.
