My Intruder has started an intermittent skip at road speed. Does anyone
know of a good mechanic in the Dallas area? I hate to go to a dealer
    because I'm so poor.

Best mechanic I know is at Cycle Center of Denton. He worries even the
small bits as if it were his own bike. Cheap isn't any good if you can't
trust the outcome. With Scott at the helm of their service department,
    you can trust the results.

I don't know how old your bike is, but there's a good email list for
different kinds of bikes and technical info over on http://www.micapeak.com
    ..

I know that the TCI ignition controller was prone to cold solder joints on
the circuit board for the early '80's era bikes from Yamaha - so
resoldering the connectors does a great job of fixing the symtoms you
    describe..

G'Luck, and let us know how it turns out!
