I know I am relatively new to this group (6 months-ish) but, is it my
imagination or does the MCN gather some of it's stories/articles from this
    group?

For example this week MCN are running the artical regarding the "exploding
sperm whale" which is not exactly motorcycle related yet I know was
    discussed on UKRM recently.

    Just a thought, D

It is not inconceivable that they just picked it up through the normal news
channels? I saw it on the BBC site well before someone had the kindness to
post it on UKRM for those who can't use the web themselves.

Although some years ago some of the UKRM peeps did manage to stitch up
MCN with some alleged 'news' that they 'disclosed'.

Yerbut they didn't run any of the articles on obesity which were also in the
news this week, yet fat people ride bikes (me), sperm whales don't... I rest
    my case.

This was certainly true in the past. Famous in the anals of ukrm
history is the thread which led to their outing. I think it would be
gilding the lily a bit though if ever they were caught doing it twice.
Especially in the current climate of concern over editorial
    responsibility,

Like I said almost exactly two back (26 Feb 02 One piece vs. two piece
leathers on the road...) a reporter from a provincial newspaper
decided to take his motorcycle test just so he could get a job with
MCN. Less than six months after sitting astride a motorcycle for the
first time he was an MCN road tester writing with authority on how the
latest sportsbike handled on the limit and how it compared with its
    peers.

Adam Duckworth (MCN editor at the time) emailed me accusing me of
inventing my story (!!!), but he went very quiet (well, he didn't
reply) when I emailed him back providing him with the name of the MCN
    staffer concerned.

Could we ask MCN for a back-issue?
