I have to admit to being of little experience. I've owned 2 CBR600s,
both of which made/make me grin.

Well, I really don't think the Honda is the quickest this season (I
hope you're talking about the production bikes, and not supersport
racing). I thought the ZX6R had won most of the plaudits this year?
You haven't ridden many bikes, have you? Daz's post put it very well
    - modern Honda's always seem a little uninvolving, a bit sensible, a
bit safe. In comparison, a gixxer thou makes you feel *alive*.
Well, agreed. But all things are relative. A fireblade will probably
still try to kill you. But a gixxer thou will try to kill, and you'll
    enjoy it :)

    That's not a dispute, that's just contradiction.

I'm not sure that this group is the place to make that sort of remark.

By gosh, you're right. Round one roundabout and up a short straight whilst
desperately trying to figure out the crappy low rev fuel injection and
worrying about what would happen if I fell off... :)

    I must have another go.

That's why I like my CBR600 - it never feels like it's gonna bite back.

I must try a CBR as the GSX-R doesn't feel like it would bite back either,
but it's still an engaging and highly entertaining bike to ride.

I think they've been considered a dull brand for many years.

22 odd years ago passing the local bike shop on the way back from school,
I was lusting over a Triton and a big shiney Honda simultaneously. The
Triton rider commented "you don't want one them there Blandamatics...".

  15. So, with Cane's luck, the new lover will be you?
    And you'll want a threesome?

I've not ridden any of the above, so cannot comment. I was wibbling about
the bikes I -have- ridden that were Hondas. CX aside, oh, and the CG125
<MSOHPR>, they have just failed to ignite the 'spark' in me.

Each to their own. I would like to try a Goldwing one day. I don't think
I'd like to own one as my main bike, but I am glad they exist none the less.

As an example, before I bought my current bike, I tried out a CBR1000. Very
nice it was too. Comfy, went like stink, handled OK, good enough brakes,
reasonable gearbox. Somehow it just didn't click and I ended up with a
heavier, slower, even more wallowy bike simply because when I first rode
it, I went 'Wow!'. Its a visceral thing that I just didn't get with the CBR.

Oddly, I like bikes that vibrate a bit. Not nut pummelling vibes, just a
tingle through the bars and pegs. I like engines that 'speak' not just
'drone', I like gearboxes that snick into gear, but are weighted
    consistently.

Sod it, I like what I like.

True. Although I find all of them powerful and exciting. ½ a BHP here and
there doesn't make any difference to me.

Clearly this man has never ridden God's Own Bike (Makes the Sign Of Holy
Pushrods). Helen Keller with advanced leprosy would find it hard to feel
    detached when riding a CG125.
