After a political faux pas in an ABATE meeting days before the general
election, Myrtle Beach Mayor Mark McBride lost by 576 votes Tuesday to
political newcomer John Rhodes, in a runoff election. Rhodes is
McBride's former boss and the executive director of the Beach Ball
Classic. McBride told ABATE members that has considered nudging bikers
and that he felt he has a right to "nudge" bikers if they're wearing
obscene t-shirts and his children are present in his vehicle.

McBride was unapologetic in an article in the Myrtle Beach Sun Times.
"I didn't give in," he said, "and I didn't change."

Mytle Beach's Mayor has equal power to other council members, with
added ceremonial duties and the bully pulpit to direct meetings. That
position, which pays $20,000 annually, often represents the larger
Grand Strand area on the state and national stage.

Tuesday's runoff drew almost 4,400 voters. The Nov. 1 nonpartisan
election drew about 4,480 voters in the city of 25,410 residents and
    14,324 registered voters.

McBride did not admit his loss was because of his insensitivy towards
Motorcyclists. He told the Sun Times, "I didn't get enough votes."

McBride prided himself on being controversial. He once asked the
National Guard to patrol Black Bike Week and opposed a gay bar from
opening in downtown Myrtle Beach, spurring the 1998 S.C. Gay and
Lesbian Pride March and Festival's move to the city.

McBride's mayor salary has been garnished by the state to settle a tax
default judgement. No work on how he will pay this after he leaves
    office

Just wanted to clarify that by "nudging bikers" he was talking about nudging
    them with his car.
That should set a better example for his kids. (/sarcasm)

What's going to set the better example for his kids, is when he "nudges" the
wrong biker with that old car.. Some old boy is going to tear off the door,
jerk his stupid ass out on the street and whup the hell out of him, in front
of those kids.. That should be a very good example that they'd best not be
    "nudging" bikes.. huh ? Regards

  7. I wonder just how nuts the politician in question really is. I have seen
some pretty nutty people placed into power. The worst idiot I can recall
was a director at a well known Ivy League school where I used to work. He
might still be there. He was scary.

  11. It all depends on how much money he has. If he has enough money then he can
get off. OJ is testament to that.

  12. There is many a citation that is held for "administrative" reasons. Then
after a while these citations just go away.

So, now you're a fucking lawyer, too? Jesus, do your delusions ever take on
    a semblance of reality?
Or get behind their lobbying against DUI checkpoints....because we all know
it's more important to have a place to ride your ATV's!! TMRA2's priorities
    are fucked.
