Maybe not classic, but...

  1. Thanks Krusty. I have the requesite skills, as it happens. Just a little
rusty - er - just a little Rusty?

    I'll post progress.

  2. My onetime neighbour had four Reliant Scimitars and some spare engines.
When he was moving, he said that if he had an engine left unsold, I
    could have it.

Greedy punters bought the lot. I have a 1959 SIIA SWB Lard Roller which
has an Essex engine in it - trouble is, the pistons must move as much
from side-to-side as they do in the correct direction.

  3. it's not a CB250RS, that. Or not standard, anyway. I'd hazard a guess at
some subspecies of XL250, but no doubt TOG can advise./

Well spotted. Must be a bitsa of some sort - XL downpipes (& seat?),
but disc front brake. XL with CB front end maybe?

I think it may be a later CL250.

RS 250, rebuilt out of bits - including Kawasaki brake and clutch
levers, a nicely made guard/shield/cover - that ooo-shiny! bit under the
    Ducktape-covered seat.

Nemmind - one of my fiends has a similar jobbie, but with a Honda (?)
400cc engine in it. I'm beginning to get ideas above my wallet.

Approximate year of first use 1980.

Whoever put it together made a tidy job of it, if you discount the seat
cover. It belonged to a boy who used it for offroad riding (hence the
knobbly on the back and the quasi-tractor tyre on the front), but he's
16 in a few months and was raising money to buy a 'moped'²²³

²²³My idea of what a moped is and what the kids/MoT think it is differ widely.

_I_ look at an NSU Quickly, a Victoria, a Mobylette, etc and think
'moped'. Everyone else these days refers to any small motorcycle or
    scooter as a 'moped'.

    Pah! Yoofertoday innit!
