I'm surprised it doesn't happen more regularly. I like the comment made by
    the tart

"These pilots, they are very professional. They combine the skills of pilots
and skills as journalists," she told the Associated Press."

I'm just glad our new flyers aren't as professional.

I remember when some geezer nicked a tank somewhere in the US and went
on a jolly. He got eventually stuck on the central reservation on a
freeway and wasn't going (couldn't go) anywhere. The police prised open
the tank hatch and still shot the poor fucker dead.

CNN coverage included a statement from the local police chief that the
driver of the pickup involved in the chase would probably be charged for
causing the deaths of the helicopter crews.
How the hell does that work?

If plod had been killed then it's the SOP for the yanks to prosecute the
"perp" under something like "causing death during the execution of a
felony". (Running away from plod is, apparently, a felony)

I can't see how this translates to a couple of news chopper journo's though,
after all no-one made them chase anyone and the driver wasn't trying to
    escape from them.

It's like the Romans watching the Christians being fed to the lions.

There are several shows on TV featuring The World's Greatest Police
Chases, etc. I really don't see the draw.

I wonder who'll be found at fault? I rather fancy the occupants of the "not
at fault" heli will have more upset relatives than you can count and all of
them will be baying for a life-long free meal ticket.

  19. As soon as I can find someone to feed me I'll let you know. Until then
I will remain not quite as ignorant as you but still not in possession
of a complete set of facts.

  20. They are the official call signs for the station.

eg, local radio station "Jack FM" found on varying frequencies including
93.1 fm has call sign: KCBS-FM.
