MAX BIAGGI/APRILIA RSV4 ONYA!

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by PaulpULVITZKA, May 10, 2010.

  1. A little factory in Italy once again teaching the GIANT Japs how to
    make a race winning motorcycle.

Over 330kmh and new and absolute race speed record for SBK production
    based motorcycles

    Great effort to all involved

    Is he still around?

"If I had equal machinery I could beat Doohan."
"If I had equal machinery I could beat Rossi."

    Still waiting Max...

  3. last race I saw him in a few weeks ago, he was still running others off the
    track
It's a wonder he hasn't been banned,. he has been running others off the
track for years and getting away with it

Wasn't it him years ago who didn't realize the race was over and
rear-ended another bike at race speed?

  5. Yep, that was him, it was also him when he got to the finish line, thought
he would pop a wheelie and scraped the rear guard, luckily? for him, he
dropped the front down in time

Dunno. I remember Raymond Roche being torpedoed by (damn; who was that
Belgian) and of course Kevin Magee being hit by Bubba Shobert.

Yes. What has Max ever achieved, apart from 4 world championships and
42 GP victories, 13 in the major class? He won the first 500GP he
    entered.

He won rounds 1 & 2 of WSBK this year, as well as both races of the Monza
round. He's currently 2nd in the standings. I suppose you might be able
to do that just by running the competition off the track, but I doubt it.

Still just a B grade class when compared to the old 500s. He could never
cut it at the top level despite his claims. So called superbikes are little
    more than modified road bikes.

George, nobody gets to be world champ of damn near anything by being
    "Mr.Nice Guy".

The era where that was possible has past many moons ago. :-|

    That was, kinda, my point.

Imagine the ignominy, with only four championships won, and finding
that, at some point, you are only one of the ten, or possibly twelve
best riders of race motorcycles, in the world...... and it's all down
    hill from there.
I assume that IS a rhetorical question. :)

I have thought about that situation, and, while I'd certainly be a
mobile chicane, I'd be fairly confident that I'd be able to do a lap or
two without falling off.....albeit VERY slowly. ;-)

However, given a similar deal with F1 cars, I doubt seriously if I could
manage more than a couple of hundred metres, or two corners before
disaster would strike, and I reckon I know more about driving cars than
    riding motorcycles. :-(

  18. "Mr. Nice Guy" was not the name that Wayne Gardner deserved when he was
leading at Philip Island and Mick Doohan was attempting to pass him on the
    outside of a left hander,
Gardner kicked out at Doohan and the commentator at the time stated that
Gardner had kicked out at Doohan because he was claiming that this was his
(Gardner's) race so "get back, this is my race to win".

    Wayne Gardner 18 GP wins
    Mick Doohan 54 GP wins

Actually, it's probably worse than that. A racing motorcycle is kind of
similar to a street bike, if you ignore the upside down gear shift
pattern and a few lumps of technology. An F1 car is *nothing* like a
street car - you'd probably stall at launch and have no clue how to
    restart.
