The latter. The haircut was a bit Ace Rimmer[1] at the time I met a
bunch of my (then to-be) wife's friends for the first time. Started
using it when somebody here started to use a different nick for me,
which I hated.

Likewise women/oestrogen.

Mine was given to me by an ex. Previously I posted with a variation of
my real name. Whilst talking about one of the first UPB munches, she
couldn't quite get her head around some of the nicknames, and in a half
tongue in cheek way said "so who the **** are you then? doesnotcompute
or something".

It was so perfectly ironic that I used it from that day forward.
I only wish I'd bought the domain immediately, as some internet café in
Ireland started up some time later under the same name.

 

I always though watching Lord Flash Heart and Ace Rimmer with a room
full of women would be amusing.
