  1. Wasn't me.

The error code says "Dry fire protection (temperature gradient of flow
NTC too steep)" So I guess that means the pump's fucked.

The bloody thing keeps going out and has been doing it for weeks but
relighting it sorts it out for about 10 minutes but now it's completely
    kaputski.

We seem to agree that the examples of each of us are inaccurate. As
does Pip about his. So, the real test would be if any of the others
felt their 'quote' was any more than a pastiche of cliches.

Well in each of those respective cases you pair were the first names I
thought of, and I'm a newbie.

I'm not saying that they weren't descriptions that wouldn't be helpful
in guessing who Tog meant, only that they were skewed.

  11. Mine wasn't; it was blatant misrepresentation.

I don't use the word 'legally'. If someone does then it usually
indicates, to me, they don't have a clue.

I'm in real danger of setting myself up for a fall, aren't I?

I'd say they were verbal caricatures - some artistic licence was used
but most were easily recognisable even by a newbie such as myself.

I agree with TOG that you can very often read a post and know who it's
from without looking at the name or sig. This is particularly noticable
on Google groups where one post tends to roll into another.

    says...
Just to confirm my saddo anorak status:

1976/77 RD C models had 4 speedblocks with the 250 or 400 in white on
the second in from front. Tank stripe was a broad affair with a large
    white section at the top.

1977/78 D models 3 full speedblocks with the 250 or 400 instead of the
second speedblock in from rear, slanting to match the angle of the
speedblocks. Tank stripes were a different pattern too, with the Yamaha
as a seperate decal and no broad white section. No tail section decal,
that came along with the E model in late 1978.

This is the bike I broke for spares a couple of years ago:

And these are all 4 RDs that I owned when I moved up north, the 125 on
the right is still owned by my daughter:
