Australian Formula One driver Mark Webber has sustained multiple fractures
to his arms and legs after being hit by a car in Tasmania .

Webber was competing in his multi-sport challenge event on Tasmania's east
    coast when the accident occurred.

It is understood Webber was on the road bike leg of the challenge when he
was hit by the vehicle on Fortescue Bay Road on the Tasman Peninsula.

The Tasmanian Ambulance Service confirmed Webber has multiple fractures in
    his arms and legs.

He has been airlifted to hospital in Hobart and is in a stable condition.

The Mark Webber challenge is an annual multi-sport event held in Tasmania
    raising funds for charity.

Cars and Webber just don't seem to gel, do they?...

    Maybe he should try horses.

  6. Reports we are getting down here are that he got quite damaged. To the
point of maybe not be able to race next year. Not good. Early days yet
though. He went through surgery yesterday so I guess the next few
weeks will tell. He's a pretty fit bastard and I'd predict he'd
    recover quicker than average.

  7. In any case, it would be a great opportunity for him to retire on a high
from a sport where he is hopeless at

  8. Excuse me? Have you been paying attention this year, Frosty? MW results
    for 2008:

    DNF, 7, 7 ,5, 7, 4, 12, 6, 10, DNF, 9, 12, 8, 8, DNF, 8, 14, 9

That's pretty much always middle-of-the-pack. Not at all bad for what
    amounts to a privateer team.

....and post bitter and twisted comments to aus.moto?

Be nice Biggus.... just getting his bum into the seat of an F1 car kind
of implies that he has _some_ ability in the driving department. ;-)

They're the richest of the "privateer teams" (that is the teams with a
budget less than $350M in 2008). In terms of his performance, his net
position gain (qualifying-race) for 2008 (his best season to date from
    memory) was -13 positions.

I'm not sure that I'd even go as far as to say "going nowhere". Ya see,
the key thing that he's got that I haven't is people who let him out
on a track in their F1 car on a regular basis. I don't know anyone
who'll let me do that, mostly because he's about a million times better
    driver than I'll ever be!

GB, I'd give my right nut to be 'going nowhere' just like him!

  16. Blink. That statistic is right up there with the contribution of the
birth rate in the Democratic Republic of the Congo to global warming.
He's had 15 starts where he finished - if he'd finished 1 position worse
in each from qualifying to race, then he'd be -15.

I might have completely misunderstood your statistic, of course.
