That's the first time I've ever heard any negative comment about NWS' product. I've never used them before primarily due to the price of their kit but given the experience I've had with whatever cheap and nasty fake c/f thing is currently adorning the rear end of my bike, I'm sorely tempted to part with the cash.
I think it might just be that I'm spoilt by the quality of TecMoto's CF compared to other suppliers, such as (IMHO) Casoli.co.uk I've seen the NWS stuff at shows and while I'll admit it's "real" CF (unlike the very plasticy feeling "carbon fibre" on my old ART can) it still doesn't look like a quality product. The deep shine of a flow-coat isn't there and the CF itself was very dull. I've heard bad reports of the fit of NWS products, but only in postings to the Ducati board and not first hand. Again the recommendations all point to either original Ducati Performance stuff or to TecMoto and a poster who supplies his own stuff.
Having said that, the same guys who crafted the tank in the original post, also do a number of other bits, including a hugger. Trouble is, they're in Miami (IIRC) which means two things; one, I'm likely to end up paying over the odds thanks to tax, duty, etc. and two, there's no easy recourse should the thing fit badly, look crap, etc.
The "Replacement Parts Under Warranty" trick on the declaration slip always works as C&E won't charge duty on these. However, that doesn't mean it will fit properly :-/ Lozzo taught me a good trick that worked with a single layer of CF tank protecter he supplied - if it doesn't fit, heat it with a hot air source (the missus' hairdryer was hot enough) and then bend it. It worked a treat!
